Tournament of Rock, Championship Rd: Beatles vs. Guns 'n' Roses

And then there were two. Vote for the group you would go see if given the chance to see them in concert in their prime.

Tough choice. I'm still pissed that AC/DC didn't make it this far, and that Nirvana went over them... Nirvana!? Jeez.

Unfortunately, I'd wager that the Beatles don't have a chance in hell round these parts.

Even though they have had double-digit victories in every round before this one?

Yeah, but they haven't gone up against GnR. GnR seem to have a bigger following here than I would have imagined before this tournament.

I really think, I will have to move on from this board if G n R wins. I'm sure many of you will be happy, but I didn't like the people in High School that like G n R and other bands of that type back then nor do I think I would like them now.

This whole tournament is a sham so why not GnR? Neither of these bands should be here. Led Zeppelin should not have lost to the Beatles and AC/DC should not have lost to Nirvana, and CCR should not have lost to Pearl Jam. So that's why I have decided to vote GnR. Hopefully they win to make an even bigger mockery out of this horrendous finals matchup.

We were not all like that... if you saw me in high school you'd never guess I was into that kind of music. Actually, if you saw me now you wouldn't know what kind of music I was into.

So much of rock music after the Beatles was bands trying to emulate the Beatles that it is very hard for people who weren't alive then to understand just how new and different they were. I know it is hard for me. They're vanilla -- so ubiquitous that sometimes you forget just how great it tastes.

I'm so glad
That she's my little girl.
She's so glad
She's telling all the world
That
We've been dancing
with Mr. Brownstone.
He's been knocking
He won't leave me alone.

Thanks heavens that, at the very least, a rock legend ended up winning this thing.

I cant believe anybody would bust on Beatles lyrics, when this is the poetry that makes up GNR's possibly greatest hit:

Welcome To The Jungle

Welcome to the jungle
We got fun 'n' games
We got evrything you want
Honey we know the names
We are the people that can find
Whatever you may need
If you got the money honey
We got your disease

Chorus:
In the jungle
Welcome to the jungle
Watch it bring you to your knees, knees
I wanna watch you bleed

Welcome to the jungle
We take it day by day
If you want it you're gonna bleed
But it's the price you pay
And you're a very sexy girl
That's very hard to please
You can taste the bright lights
But you won't get them for free

In the jungle
Welcome to the jungle
Feel my, my serpentine
I, I wanna hear yous-cream

Welcome to the jungle
It gets worse here evryday
Ya learn ta live like an animal
In the jungle where we play
If you got a hunger for what you see
You'll take it eventually
You can have anything you want
But you better not take it from me

Chorus

And when you're high you never
Ever want to come down, YEAH!

You know where you are
You're in the jungle baby
You're gonna die
In the jungle
Welcome to the jungle
Watch it bring you to your knees, knees
In the jungle
Welcome to the jungle
Feel my, my serpentine
In the jungle
Welcome to the jungle
Watch it bring you to your knees, knees
In the jungle
Welcome to the jungle
Watch it bring you to your
It's gonna bring you down
Ha!

At least the Beatles wrote their lame shitty lyrics like 40 years ago and then progressed beyond them . . . .

I can't believe that the farm music done by the Beatles actually qualifies as "rock."

The hold your hand guys also smoked up right before meeting the Queen of England. That completely beats anything "Axel" can come up with.

"I Wanna Hold Your Hand" is a boring-ass song. This tournament shows exactly why I don't support a playoff system for Division I-A football.

But it was BCS-like voting that produced the bad result!
