FOF; Injuries and mentors question

I have a dumb question I was hoping someone might be able to answer:

I have a rookie QB, who in week 3 of the pre-season just went down for 19 weeks with a serious hamstring injury.

I have a QB mentor on my roster as well. If I keep the rookie active, but obviously out of my lineup, will he still gain points from the effect of the mentor, or does the injured status block any gains that he may otherwise accrue?

Thanks for any insights

If both the rookie and the mentor is active, I believe the rookie still will benefit a little from the time spent.
