The *72 phone scam
Thank you Snopes.
I've had the Cook County Prison calling my house the last two nights, I've hung up the phone each time when it asked me to press "0" to accept a collect call from, "inmate" with no name. Today, I finally pressed the "0" to see who this might be and a guy told me he was from the Cook County Sheriff's dept and that I an inmade (couldn't tell me a name) had an emergency and needed me to call Captain John at *72 312-768-XXXX and asked me to repeat the number several times, he wouldn't answer any of my questions and I hung up. I went to snopes and found out that *72 activates call forwarding and that all calls would go to that 312 number and I would be charged all calls to that number. Anyone ever get a call like this? |

you should prolly call the cops and report that phone #...or post it online so someone can do a reverse-lookup on it and send them all sorts of random shit or whatever. Would serve them right. |

Yeah - post the number....I'll put it up on 4chan and make that guy's life hell for the next 15 minutes.

Let me find it, I think I just took out the trash that had it written down.
I'm going to call centurytel tomorrow and get call forwarding removed just for good measure, we never use that feature anyway. |
