Yeah, I saw that a while ago while looking for a crack for HAM. I didn't like it too much, the interface wasn't as fluid as I would like.

And are the HAM creators also the Hattrick creators? If not, I mean, who charges for an add-on to a game if you didn't create it?

and I was really hoping there would be free ham coupons in here.

Hattrick Assistant Manager.

It basically presents all your team information clearly and in a manner that is very understandable.

Its good for orgainizing your team and telling who should play where, as it can be a little daunting looking at every skill for every player as it is set up on the website.

I think the HAM program disables itself later this month and you will HAVE to pay to use it further.

Hattrick Assistant Manager. Great little utility, used to be free, now you can only get the beta free. Anyway, here is the link.

Ah, yes... free ham, "the Jewish dilemma." Classic!

I don't think the creators of HAM are the creators of hattrick. I like this, and it is free. However I don't trust their attempt at using a mybestteam like thing. They had all the guys in the wrong spots.

So, all this hubbub is about avoiding a payment of what... something like ten bucks?

I find it fascinatinng how so many people react to shareware payments in such extreme ways. I guess it's a computer culture issue. These same people would go drop the same ten bucks on a couple of beers at a bar in no time, or on something else that almost certainly provides less "value" to their lives than the software. But register? Pay? No way, they'll spend hours looking for a free alternative.

I realize that ten bucks is real money to some sliver of society... but I get the sense that this isn't really about affordability, it's about some issue of principle that I really cannot fathom.

I think it is about the principle, especially in the case of HAM. It was free for quite some time and then suddenly the developer up and decides to charge for his creation. That's fine, it's his product and he can do whatever he wants with it. He even gave fair warning to those using the program that it would cease to function after a certain point.
I guess the whole thing just leaves a sour taste in some mouths since there are few alternatives. That said, I won't be paying for HAM any time soon but that's just a personal preference since I'm a poor college student and all.

I like HAM, but I don't like it enough to pay for it. That's all.

While, I fit into that sliver of society with the fun little problem of "a few grand to live on a year as a college student to cover tuition and all college costs", I also have a problem with paying for information on the web both because it's free information you can find elsewhere. Secondly, there's the whole problem that when freeware developers switch over to pay-for-product, especially a "lifetime license", they start gradually working less and less on the product as it seems more and more like work. Still, I threw down my $10. Also, I suppose I'll throw down cash and re-up my supporter membership when the time comes.
