Takeo Spikes
Why wouldn't the Bengals try to get a draft pick in return for Spikes? Are they just that damn stupid.

From what I have read they don't want to match the offer sheet because they don't think they could then trade him. The fear is that they will get stuck with his salary and have a guy that doesn't want to be on the team.
IMO they should have traded him last year after the Falcons game. At that point it was already clear the season was lost, and somebody out there would have wanted a Pro Bowl caliber linebacker for the rest of the season. Oh yeah, the Bengals are really dumb too.

Don't hold back. Tell us how you really feel. The Bengals' logic, as explained to me in another thread, was that they did not want to end up in a situation where they had to pay Spikes a one year fat contract by franchising him and then not being able to trade him. While not getting value for Spikes might be a Bungles move, I actually like Lewis' approach. The team will have better chemistry in the long run if players who are there want to be there and are not strong-armed into playing by Franchise or Transition tags. |

There are players who want to be a Bengal?
