Coaching a National Team thoughts

What's everyone's thoughts when they coach a national team? I try and keep my same tactics that I normally use. Right now I'm having a hard time with finding an elite striker for England. The one I used for the last 8 years is slowing down at age 32 and isn't what he used to be. I also only always use two goal keepers and love to bring in younger players to get them some national team experience

Not so important with England, but I always look around for players listed as other nationalities that also have us. Fairly often I find a decent player who can be a good supporting player for us who isn't good enough to play for the national team of his main nationality. Or perhaps they one day will be, so I grab them and play them in a game to lock them in with us.

i think i fall under the "lazy" camp as a national team manager. right now i'm managing italy (managed ivory coast and won a WC with them and then resigned. tried my hand at england VERY briefly - quit after a disasterous european championship draw), and waited for italy.

by lazy i mean i tend to stick with the guys who have the highest value in the positions that i want - in general. Not a hard-and-fast rule, but I'm not one to dig through the attributes of every person in the national team player pool to find the striker with the best pace and finishing. i take that as sort of a "shortcut" unless I am looking to bring up youth (which I do, but do very slowly). In the case of this last Italian squad though, I found a lot of players at 27-28 who had 2-3 caps and that's it, and I brought them back into the fold.

I'm very big on using it to try to curry favor with transfer targets, and I've been known to prefer guys on my own squad if there is a negligable difference in skills

Is there an easy way to do this?

Under search, select players who are eligible to play for your national team. Then go to general information and it'll list their first nationality
