Mentors and rookies
The effect of Mentors have on development is clear but I'm curious if mentors effect the chance a rookie has of busting or booming. Anyone have thoughts or data regarding this.

All indications are that what many refer to as "busting" or "booming" would be more accurately called "unmasking" or "removing of scout error" in the vast majority of cases. In other words, that 35/53 draftee who eventually is scouted at 70/70 didn't "get better, but was *really* 35/70 from day one. Likewise, the 25/60 draftee who maxxed out (current) at 45/45 was really 25/45. There *are* players who completely change ratings, but those are quite rare.
So, point being, what mentors do is accelerate development, thereby accelerating the rate at which the scout error is removed. I haven't seen any indication that they make the rare random booms more common.

This is different however from the veteran booms; of course that has nothing to do with mentors. Those aren't unmasking. At least in my opinion.

Oh, right. Veteran booms/busts appear to be an entirely different animal. In those cases (which are more common), I do believe we're seeing a true change in the "true" ratings. I was referring to the typical "creeping" that we see.
