Combine scores thought
i'm going to use Strg for DL'men as my example. looking at the scores a 30 gets a blue mark while a 29 gets no mark. so how big is the gap between the player doing 30 reps and the player doing 29. is it simple 1 for 1 or is the difference between a blue 30 and a regular 29 greater then the differences between say 31 reps and 30 reps
just an odd thought i had |

I think you can rate this as a similar gap as the 1-point gap between a player being rated "Very Good" (83 overall) or "Excellent" (84 overall). To give some general feel about the colors, I'd say that green is like "Poor", black is about "Fair"/"Average", blue is "Good" and red is "Very Good"/"Excellent".
Personally, I wouldn't make that 1 extra push make the difference between picking and not picking him, however opinions differ on that. The difference between 29 and 30 isn't such a big deal, but 30 should be an indication that the player rank roughly in the top x% (my guess is something like the top 20%) of players at his position in the abilities that help the player make bench press reps, wheras a score of 29 will point out that the player is close. Edit: I suppose a better guide line for the colors could be: Green - roster filler quality Black - backup quality Blue - starter quality Red - All Pro quality

Freaky, my post shows up when I click on the thread, but in the forum overview this thread shows (to me) as being without replies.

From what I've seen, there really isn't an overlap between the colors. A player with a blue combine score (even if only slightly higher) should at least be slightly higher in that skill than a player with a black combine score.
I only have rough guestimates, but here is where I'd put each color level: Green - Player has ability rating of 0-25 in that skill Black - Player has ability rating of 25-50 in that skill Blue - Player has ability between 50-75 in that skill Red - Player has ability between 75-100 in that skill. So, let's say you see a receiver who has a red 40-yard dash, blue strength, black agility, and green position drill. That would mean that: 40-yard dash = His big play receiving ability is probably between 75-100 Stength = His courage ability is probably in between 50-75 Agility = His "getting downfield" rating is probably between 25-50 Position drill = His avoid drops/adjust to ball are both probably between 0-25 Then, you would probably need to look at where the bars are followed by his scouted impression to get a better view of where is skills are in those narrow ranges. After scouting a player, you should see an much more narrow orange band which is your scout's guestimate of what that skill is. |
