Yeah, used some poker money a couple of years ago to buy one. Never had an HD image displayed on it, though. It was only $100 more than the SD tv we were going to get that was the basically the same size and brand so we just popped it.

No HDTV here. I will probably get one after the broadcast signal gets switched, but I am in no rush to get one.

I have an HDTV for normal TV watching, and now with the move to a new house coming up, I have added an HD projector to the mix.

I voted yes for 1, but it is a little older and doesn't have a built in receiver like most do now days I think. It's also a rear projection. Nice tv, but has been in for repair once and probably not going to last more then another year plus as the main tv in the house.

I finally got one a little before Christmas, I was holding out as long as I could..but the old TV went out and it seemed a waste to buy a "new" old TV.

Great purchase, don't regret it at all. We bought a small, cheap LCD and it's been great. Already thinking about an upgrade though.

Yes, a Panasonic home theater LCD projector with HDMI input. In widescreen format (16:9 ratio) the image is about 127".

No interest.

I don't care how clear the picture is. My normal TV is fine. I've seen HD stuff, and I'm not even remotely as impressed as everyone else. Someday I will, but it won't be anytime soon.

Besides, I only watch sports, a few shows, and mostly old movies, so I don't really care much. The vast majority of TV is lame, so why should I spend more until I have to?

The time I knew I had to upgrade was when I went over to my brothers last year and watched the World Series in HD. I would say sports are the sole reason I upgraded to the HD package on cable. It's an amazing difference.

Now if only Fox Soccer would go HD then all would be perfect.

We saved up and bought a 65" DLP last summer and love it. My wife would like to get an HDTV for the bedroom, but she's freaked out by the thought of the kids pulling the tv down on top of them and crunching their noggin. So I thought a DLP might be a good alternative, but apparently they don't make DLP's smaller than 50 inches?

How do you like the 19" LCD? I'm wondering if it wouldn't seem a little too small, especially when you're used to watching a 65" in the living room.

We have a little 19" LCD in our bedroom and a 60" in our media room (as well as a 42" in the living room.) The 19" TV feels a bit small at times particularly when we have just finished watching the 60" TV, but we don't watch much TV in the bedroom so it really doesn't bother me or my wife. At most, we watch a half hour before bed most nights.

I'm in the same boat. I usually just flip on the bedroom TV to watch/listen to the news and traffic while I get ready for work in the morning. If you go from one to the other, it's obviously dramatic, but I just don't find myself doing it very often if at all.

Theres a 37" sony 3LCD rptv that can be had for around 800 bucks, although it's becoming increasingly rare.

I'm finally getting one!

Picked out the 47" Sony Bravia KDL-46V3000. I had wanted the 52", but since I've lowered my choice, I think I can get a ps3 by my wife (for blue ray of course) as well and still be way under what I was going to pay for the 52".

We would be quite the gaming family with a ps2, wii, 360, and ps3.

Thank you taxes!!!

We will probably end up having to pay some for taxes. With just the basics in we owed $5000, and have that down to just over $1000 now. Still some stuff to go in though so hopefully we come out ok.

+1

Now can we make out?

My wife is the one that watches TV (including football games with our son). They have no interest and agree with me that HDTV doesn't change the content, so why spend all that money? To see raindrops better during a football game?

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't missed it as far as watching TV goes, but playing my neighbor's 360 and ps3 on his 46" HDTV is pure gaming bliss.. and blue ray movies are something you have to see for yourself.

Yeah, I got a 30 inch Sony CRT HDTV and I just love it. Try to avoid SD programming as much as possible, so I was really happy when Comcast got USA in HD, so I might actually watch "Monk" again (it was mostly because I never really looked to see what was on the SD channels).

For as little as I use a TV, it's not worth it for me to get an HDTV until they're the only thing available.

Amen to that. The whole HDTV fiasco is one of the greatest consumer scams I have ever seen. Only in America can the masses be pursuaded to purchase a TV that will show the vast majority of current programming in a state that is much worse than what a CRT delivers. On top of that people are pursuaded to buy huge TVs and pay thousands for them and then have to pay extra to get HD programming on top of it! What a ripoff.

I'll buy an HDTV when HD programming is the norm. Until then I will enjoy my digital TV and the excellent picture that I get on my CRT.

Just because you don't get it doesn't mean it's a scam. I mean really, I've heard people claim video games were a scam (seperate fools from their money, etc) because they didn't get it. Don't be just as bad as those people.

Big screen TV's were always a lot of money, it's not like they were 50 bucks for a 60" screen back in the day. Dealing with consumers every day, they seem to like the idea of LCD's way too much, probably the worst quality you'll get with standard definition TV. But of course they've heard all the horror stories about plasmas which simply arent true, even though for the majority of cable customers it'd be the best picture quality. Maybe a slight downgrade from CRT, but eons better than LCD(all but the majorly expensive ones).

Unless you're getting it online, a lot of times the "W" series on sale will be cheaper than the V. Either one is a nice choice.

The 52" W is on sale at Best Buy for $2599. Same price at Frys.com, free shipping.

On the other hand, the 46V is $1999 at Best Buy this week, so, yeah, essentially like getting a free PS3 and maybe some Blu-ray movies for the price difference.
