Creating a Draft Roster
I have downloaded the tools from this site and created a draft file that I was planning on using after the 2008 season.
One thing I noticed is it doesn't always save the players I changed or whatnot, and thankfully I have saved them all in an excel spreadsheet. The other is that I tried to import it one time as a practice and none of the name changes were there, or were blank spaces with a weird symbol. I've been up and down the forum trying to figure it out and gave up on it for a while, but I just had to ask. WHY AM I DOING IT WRONG?? (I made a roster with player names/positions from movies, and since I had so many other spots to fill, put in Slapshot players, and various other sports movie names, then filled out the rest with pro wrestler names. I'm sure it's a shrug to most, but I want Shane Falco or Johnny Utah as a QB.) I appreciate any help as I DID try and find it on the forum for a couple months before I broke down to ask LOL. |

Which utility/utilities did you use?

The one that I thought was working out for the better was 3ric's 1.41 Draft Editor.

Yeah, thought so - with the change in format for the draft files the 1.41 version no longer supports editing of names. The numerical data should be fine, though.
You should edit the whole thing in Excel, save as a csv file and use Solecismic's draft file creator instead.

As someone who doesn't have FOF 2004 and therefore does not know, I have to ask a couple of questions: 1) is the draft file creator a seperate exe, like the Player File Creator in FOF2K7? 2) if it is a seperate exe has anyone asked whether Jim would allow it to be sent to/posted somewhere for those of us who do have 2007 but don't have 2004? I was hoping to do an "all-time" type of league where I scramble the debuts of every player in NFL history (or 1960 to today, at least), but to make it work I'd have to be able to make draft files and as it currently stands, I can't. I was originally planning on using 3ric's util to edit existing draft files, but obviously I can't do that either.

I know this is a REALLY dumb question, but where is the Solesmic draft generator?
I know about the file creator funtion and have used that to make a list of players to start a SP game, but that's not the same thing is it? |

It's not a dumb question - I just assumed the draft file generator was bundled with FOF2k7, just as it was with FOF2k4, but it isn't... send an email to support AT solecismic.com and ask if a FOF2k4 user is allowed to distribute the draft generator app without violating the license agreement.

I hate to put this up, but....
Download the FOF2k4, from the solecismic website, and install it, then you have the draft file creator. You never actually have to run the main application for FOF2K4, in fact, you can then copy the draft file creator to another directory and uninstall the rest. I don't know if this is a violation or not, but if it is, I don't think that it is a huge one since you paid for FOF2K7, and it should likely have been included in FOF2K7 as well. Sorry if this is off side (Moderator, feel free to delete it). Nogram <--- was going to buy FOF2K4 for this file, but found that it was no longer available for sale. Only FOF2K7 and the College Years were available for sale on the online store. |

I think yabanci created a 2006 draft file, and chances are that it'll be linked in the stickied reference thread?
