Football Star

Haven't seen this posted about here and I thought it might be something that would interest some of your guys. Football Star is basically a cross between Hat-trick (in that it's an on-line game) and New Star Soccer (in that you play a soccer player). That's about it really. Fair to say it isn't a fast-paced experience as you (very) slowly train your skills up and take part in the odd match (if you're in a bad enough/bot team). As with most of these sorts of things the enjoyment is to be had from joining the forum and interacting with other players and managers (the latter is useful as training improvements are much speedier on a human managed team), while having human team mates helps you keep your in-game morale up and provides a useful source of tips. And you can negotiate your contract with a human manager. And a bunch of other stuff I've forgotten already.

I started off as a leftback in Sweden (you have to start off in your home country) - which was mistake number one as none of the big Swedish league teams nor the national teams use fullbacks. However my current manager (third tier league) does use fullbacks and doesn't want me to retrain to the centreback role. I'm currently 18 and I'm probably not at the front of the pack of similarly aged players in terms of skill progression because I've been playing games every week, which plays havoc with your fitness level. Basically it's up to you whether you try to get signed to one of the big clubs and concentrate solely on training up your skills or if you join a smaller club, get to play games and increase your experience but don't train quite as much because you have to rest more.

Anyway, take a look if you think it's anything of interest.

Could be cool. I can't figure out how to join, though.
