Questions for PSP owners...

1. Battery life -- can you buy extra batteries to double your battery life for a long flight, etc?

2. Can you play the game while it is charging?

3. Is it neccessary to have a memory stick or does the PSP have built in memory? If so, how much?

4. Are new bundles expected anytime soon?


Are there any things I should know prior to buying one that might be important but don't get talked about?

1. I believe so. Never looked, I usually bring both DS and PSP when I travel so if the PSP loses juice, I still have the DS...

2. Yep. No problems there.

3. No real built-in memory (there is RAM, nothing for storing games as far as I know). You have to use the MemoryStick format which, while annoying, is relatively cheap to buy.

4. Bundles..the only one I know of to be released "soon" is the God of War red PSP bundle, coming out June 30th according to amazon.com. The Daxter bundle is still available, as far as I know.

Just confirming what Terpkristin said, and about 1, yes, you can buy extra batteries, double batteries and also metal cases to store it that have also an extra battery to load it while it's stored in the case.

The USB adapter can charge also the PSP from a PC/notebook and transfer files between them. (I think it was included, but not 100% sure or if i bought it apart)

I don't believe the computer connection cable comes with it, but it's a standard USB to mini-USB cable, so most people have them lying around anyway. Most peoples' digital cameras use them, if nothing else...

Yes, although it's worth noting that the current super-battery ruins the form factor of the PSP 2000. The older ones, it'll fit fine, but the newer ones, it'll poof out from.

Re-charging, yes. I wouldn't recommend doing it when charging a battery for the first time.

No memory stick pro duo, no save for you.

A God of War bundle has been announced, but I cannot recall whether that was a domestic announcement or European.

The screen holds smudges like a sonofabitch. Or, at least, the older models did. Maybe they improved that on the newer ones, but even with regular cleaning of my PSP-1000 screen with the cloth that came with it, there's all kinds of smudges and such that have accumulated over the years.

First thing I bought for both of my PSP's was a screen protector. I thought about it more for protecting from scratches, as I'd have been PISSED if I'd have scratched something that beautiful, but it's helped significantly with fingerprints, too. Then again I'm a big proponent of screen protectors all around. Have 'em on my DS, put one on my iPod, both PSP's, PDA, etc...

Just to add on, I bought a screen protector and a clear hard case to put my PSP in. It feels better in my hands since it's thicker. I really don't see how the PSP slims are comfortable.

I'm ready to buy a PSP...one final question. To use MP3 player, movies, etc. do I have to have this media software? Or is that just "better"?"

The software mostly makes transfer easier.

Sometimes it will also help with video encoding, but only for unprotected video. Copy protected stuff like commercial DVDs, it won't do a thing for.
