NBA Top Gun?

The NCAA game is pretty fun, I wonder if it would work well for the NBA playoffs?

Rules wise, I'm sure there would have to be modifications. I was thinking that instead of gross points, you'd have to use average for the series or something to that effect.

I'm thinking like 10-12 entrants
Team of 6-8 players.
One has to be from a 6/7/8 seed

Any more thoughts/comments/interest?

Playoffs start in about 2 weeks. Teams are already pretty well locked, we could start drafting within a few days if there is interest.

I actually don't mind the idea of total games - a top seed in the East might not get to play as many games as the teams in the West, but there is probably less risk with Pistons/Celtics compared to Lakers/Spurs (just to pick a couple of teams at random) in terms of advancing to conference finals and beyond.

I would be interested.

you know what, it'll average out if we just use gross points totals instead of averages. Just another thing to consider if you take a player from a team likely to sweep.

Since sometimes Top Gun gets boring fast when a team gets a basically insurmountable lead, I'd like to introduce the

"Mulligan Rule"

One time throughout the Playoffs, you can replace any member of your team with a currently unused player. At the beginning of his next round.

So, if you lose 3 guys in round 1, you can add one more player for the 2nd round. Or if you get 6 to the 2nd round, but want to replace one of them, you can boot a player and replace him.

Mulligan draft order will be on a first come, first served basis. So if you lose a guy in 4 games, you can elect to pick someone else up for the next round. But you need to make sure the other players team has advanced first, or you could be screwed.
