Season Tickets...Who's Got 'em?

The old lady and I have been talking about moving from the SF Bay Area down to San Diego in a few years and buying a house, so I figured if there was ever a time in my life to watch my beloved Niners it's now. So...about a week ago I did something I have always wanted to do, I purchased Season Tickets to the 49ers. The seats are really close to my ideal spot at Candlestick/3Com/Monster/Candlestick Park, and because the stadium is so old the ticket prices are surprisingly innexpensive compared to the rest of the teams in the NFL. I usually go to one, maybe two games every year, and last year the lady started getting more and more into the team which makes me happy beyond belief. So I picked up two tickets and she's going to accompany me to about 75% of the games. I'm a big fan of grilling too, so I'm really looking forward to a couple hours of tailgating every week until gametime.

I have looked into buying packs of A's games, or Giants games, but being an Orioles fan I just can't bring myself to spend the money on a team I'm not emotionally attached to. Plus the company I work for has decent seats at AT&T Park and I use those once or twice a month already.

I hear that there are some teams that have 20 year waiting lists (Packers, Yankees, etc), and then there are other teams where season tickets can run damn near 10k for a decent pair. Does anyone else here have Season Tickets to a professional (or even semi-pro) team?

My dad and I split season tickets to the Colts games. I absolutely love the experience. I know a lot of people say football is a sport made for TV, but there's something about heading to the stadium on gameday that gets me fired up.
The Colts waiting list I think is around 10K now after the Super Bowl win. Some of those will get in when the new stadium opens but I heard it'll still leave well over half on the waiting list. For the money, I believe the Colts are one of the best values in the league (seems them and the Packers were usually two of the lowest priced tickets in the league)

Nope. Only season tickets I've ever bought have been women's college basketball.

Absurdly affordable, to the extent that even going to one game a year they're still a good price & the rest we give away or catch another game or two if there's something on the schedule we really think looks good.

Otherwise, I can definitely see where it would be cool but I've never been in a situation where it was realistic to think I'd have the time or energy to go to enough games for any team to justify the expense.

Season tickets for Sydney's pro basketball team can be had for a shade under $200 and I'm seriously considering that this year, which would be the first time I've bought season tickets for any sport.

Just Syracuse Football & Basketball for 4 years in college.

I'd love to spend one season going to Fenway Park every day. There's something intriguing about that aspect of baseball season tickets - spending most of your summer hanging out there.

Even college season tickets are getting expensive. With more and more teams going to "pro style" type venues, it's also increasing the cost of the ticket. My girlfriend's dad is a Temple allumni member, so he bought Temple football season tickets last year (I know, I know, they're terrible).

They play all their home games at Lincoln Financial Field (where the Eagles play). We had endzone tickets for around $25 a ticket. Granted, it's not that expensive, but for what it is - Temple football, it's way too much.

Working in the evening makes buying season tickets a dumb idea for me, but I've wanted season tickets to the local minor league baseball team since I moved to Virginia.

I buy season tickets to all sports at Clemson, as much to support the school, and have promos as anything.

Football is 299/seat this year...PLUS IPTAY DUES of $1200 (this varies on how close you want to sit)

We also have season tix to the Panhers and Bobcats, but these get used 99% for employees or customers...

my dad has season tickets to the ny giants which i took over in college. when i started going in the mid 80s i remember the tickets being $30 for 17th row. by the time my contact died and i lost the tickets (awful on 2 levels!) they were up to $65 or so..but i had 4. i sold 2 at twice face value and kept 2 of my own for free.

ill be talking about how great that was for the rest of my life.

for now im on a 30 year or so waiting list. sucks.

I agree whole heartedely. I love watching Football on TV for the camera angles, and there are definetely other advantages to watching a game on the tube. It's especially nice if you're someone with an HD Receiver and a nice HDTV...but...there's nothing like being there with your fellow die hard fans, screaming your lungs out on big plays, and booing bad calls. Even the tailgating before the game with hundreds of other buzzed/drunk fans makes it damn near worth it, especially when the opposing teams fans walk by and everybody just rips into them.

And the New Orleans Hornets -- at $430 this season, an incredible bargain for extremely high quality NBA basketball. And that's not even taking into account the free street parking.

In-laws annual gift to us is Razorback football season tickets. Apathy was about to set in under Nutt last season, and if a change hadn't have been made I probably would've just politely declined them this year. I'm quite happy to accept them now.

I have had season tickets for the Buffalo Sabres of the NHL for the last three years.

Best investment I've ever made. Very reasonable prices, tickets in high demand so they are easy to sell if I don't want to go to particular games and the wife enjoys the hockey so it's a nice night out.

Partial season Pens tickets, this is the 4th year I've had them. When I wanted a full season I couldn't afford them. Now I can afford them, but with a nearly 4 year old and 1 1/2 year old, it's rough. We (wife and I) made 3 games together (with the kids) this year. I made another 4 with friends/family/co-workers.

We've also had our name on the Steelers ticket list since we were married in 2000, so we probably only have like 8 more years to go

I've been on the NY Jets season ticket waiting list for 12 years now. Im absurdly low on the list now, like number 300 or so. I dont know if I even want the tickets any more, to be honest.

I have 2 seats to Rutgers Football games, thankfully I got in just before the waiting list swelled to 12K. I have a Sunday plan with the Mets and a few friends and I are planning on throwing in to get a couple seats at the new Citi Field for next year.

I have a buddy who works for the Devils. Someone he works with has had 6 Jets tickets in his family forever. For the upcoming season, he wanted to get rid of 2 of them so he was just going to give them back to the Jets and let them do what they want with them. My friend asked why he would do that since he could sell the rights to them for thousands. His response was that he didn't want to go through that hassle. So for a $50 transfer fee, my buddy now has Jets season tickets.

I'm on the fence about buying Seton Hill University football season tickets, but they draw less than 1000 people per game, so I could just walk up to the gate and get in without trouble. There's a small discount if you buy season tickets, but we always seem to miss exactly one home game each year, so that would pretty much negate the discount.

Shockingly, I have season tickets to Mizzou basketball. Had them for 9 years now.

Chiefs season tickets are finally available this year after a 15-20 year run where only a few hundred were available each year in the far reaches of the upper deck. Amazing what a 4-12 season will do to the season ticket list. With that said, they'll still sell 55-60K season tickets. Most people are there because it's the best tailgating in the NFL. The team is secondary.

If I ever move back to El Paso I would buy season tickets for UTEP football and basketball, but the only pro franchise I REALLY care about here in Dallas is the Cowboys, and season tickets are pretty hard to come by (and will be insanely expensive when they move into the new stadium)...

Funny because the one year they had that great home schedule, I think in 2006, you could buy season tickets in the upper deck in the endzone for $69 and I thought about getting them to see Notre Dame, WVU, Louisville, Michigan State, and Rutgers. Now I think they are a little over $100-$125, no donation.

On the other hand my two PSU season tickets, plus donation run me close to $1500.

Same with me -- I so want Michigan Football season tickets. They're crazy expensive, but if we ever moved to Detroit, the cost of living difference would make such a difference in our lives that we could probably swing it.

I'm on the Washington Redskins waiting list and have been for 5-10 years. I could get club seats if I want them, but they are absurdly expensive. I got 81 games of baseball for probably 25% of 8 games of football.

Wow, that's impressive. Do you actually go to all 81 games? I've been wrestling with the idea of getting Phillies season tickets, but I think it would be too much of a grind, even though I love the team.

No, I'm just trying to act important. I have 15 games. My good friend has 15 games. We pretty much go to most of the games together. The other 50 are split up in shares of 5-10 among friends (and some non-friend acquaintances). So I will probably go to 20-25 games this year. I've been to 5 thus far and I'm going again tonight. It's a 20 min bus ride to the stadium from my house, and the same from my office.

The great thing about the Red Bulls tickets as well is they're pretty damn cheap. $280 for the season. Any additional games are free (like the friendly coming up in august, reportedly against either Barcelona or Real Madrid), and playoff games are free as well.

It also came with a pretty sweet training jacket.

Attending at least 13 games makes it cheaper than paying for individual seats... In reality I'll make them all, they'll have a friendly, and probably 1 playoff game.... i think it would be like $94 savings over individual tickets.

Plus I want first shot at season tickets when they move to their new stadium next year, which will be walking distance from home for me.

So if you like soccer, it's a deal.

This year is the first year I've gotten season tickets for the Terps football games. It's also the first year that I don't have friends who are students (they all gradumated) who can get me student guest tickets.

I attend Purdue so I am getting football and basketball tickets for the upcoming season. Football here is becoming pretty mediocre, but basketball should be very exciting this year. Duke is coming to West Lafayette for the ACC/Big 10 challenge so that pretty much single handedly made my decision for me. It costs $225 for the tickets but you can also get into all other varsity sports with this package for free, so it seems like a good deal.

Had season tickets to the Jets the past two seasons. Now that I've moved farther away from northern NJ, it's just become too much of an inconvience to spend 6 hours on a Sunday driving, plus an hour in traffic.

Unfortunately, I also don't get them on TV so I have to watch a fuzzy version through TVAnts or sopcast.

I have 4 season tickets to NC State Football. This year I splurged for lifetime rights seats to guarantee me the same seats each year. I am looking forward to this season. The tailgaiting is always good too.

I remember when I first started buying season tickets how excited I was to finally be at that point in my life. I still get really fired up to go to each home game. This year NC State has 7 home games again plus I will probably make it to 3 of our road games (UNC, Duke, and South Carolina).
