(spygate) Enjoying the sounds of silence

Wow, what's that sound? Oh, I know what it was, it was all the rabid Patriots-haters crying themselves to sleep that Walsh isn't going to extend Spygate any more.. oh well, I'll enjoy the silence for the about 45 seconds it takes for everyone to cry coverup and conspiracy...

(Ok, I fully admit I'm going into Asshole Pats Fan mode here, but after the last eight or so months, where the team has been accused of everything except murdering babies (don't get me wrong, what they DID do was bad enough, despite all the other stuff that's come out with Jimmy Johnson et all), I think I deserve a bit of getting things off my chest)

I am sick of hearing about it.

Frankly I am amazed that the second best team in the league gets this much attention.

If you want to get something off your chest, you might want to start with those manboobs.

To heck with Spygate, New England losing the Super Bowl was all anti-Patriot nation needed.

I wonder what Matt Walsh thinks he got/was going to get out of all of this.

I'm glad it's over. I still don't get why taping coaches is illegal to begin with, when just watching TV I can hear QB audibles, see on-field player signals, and the occasional coaches signals as well. On the standard coaching "game tape", which covers much more of the field, I'm sure they have even more access to coach signals - are they supposed to cover their eyes? The distinction that you can watch every inch of the field, but not the sideline, just makes so sense to me - isn't that why you use SIGNALS? Can a baseball team videotape an opposing coach's signs? I would never have thought they couldn't.

But, when you do something the NFL tells you specifically not to do, and do it rampantly, I think the punishment was probably a little light. But teams are 100% immune from negative effects of this if they just conceal/mix-up the signals.

Second best team. I am satisfied that my beloved Dolphins still stand alone atop the mountain.

I don't understand why this was extended beyond the point that Goodell made it clear that he had punished the Pats for their cheating back to 2000. If Walsh knew what they got punished for, and he knew what was on his tapes, why didn't he just say, "Oh, OK then, I've got nothing new to show you."

The question now becomes, who was the source for the Boston Herald story about the Rams walk-through, if not Walsh? This is actually a worse-case scenario for Goodell, because 4 months have passed, nothing has been resolved, and I bet Specter is goin to press him to continue the walk-through taping allegation.

Actually, I'm pretty sure they did indeed murder some babies. Sorry.

At least Barry Bonds is the best at something. I can tell the "haters" that.

This is like a fan of Al Sharpton being happy that there was no new news in the Tawana Brawley matter.

I love how ESPN is trying to drum something up. John Clayton's comments are basically that this is about to be put to rest, but the latest update to the actual ESPN story is that the tapes show them taping offensive signals, not defensive signals, which could potentially fall outside of what Goodell punished them for. Maybe. But I guess it really matters what Belilchick copped to in his discussions with Goodell.

One thing's for sure...Specter is still all over this.

I think you over-estimate how much anybody cares about this during the off-season.

I don't quite get the connection here. For one thing, Bill and the Pats were actually punished in this case.
