Looks great, I'm looking forward to it as it is one of the few shooters I've enjoyed.

As long as they keep the split-screen coop in I'll be picking it up.

Had a great time playing the first one coop, but I doubt I could get into it single player.

The trailer blows my mind. It looked pretty polished, too (as in...that part of the game looked 100% complete minus the health gauge).

Hopefully they put in more maps for multiplayer than they did in Gears 1. Also, they should have multiple downloadable packs...but I guess they didn't do that so they could start focusing on Gears 2 right away.

Can't wait til November!

I just got to thinking, and Gears of War is the last game I actually played from start to finish.

I don't normally like shopping at CC, but this might make it worthwhile.

FYI....If you live near one of the Circuit City locations that are closing, you get 10% off in addition to the 1600 free points. Of course, you'll have to act quick as they aren't restocking these stores. Once they're gone, they're gone.

400 Xbox Live points = $5 IIRC.

Makes sense, thanks.

I never played the first one but everyone seems to slob this game's knob and the split screen co-op sounds awesome.

Since the 1600 points is listed as a $20 value, that sounds about right.

The points are used for downloadable content, games, extra songs for Rock Band, demos, etc.

Played for over 4 hours last night. It was amazing. Played for a bit today too. I used to be a pistol/grenades/boom shot guy. Now I'm a lancer/boom shot/grenades guy. It will be interesting to see how my play evolves over time

I had my four hour session last night. This games kicks all kinds of ass. I'm really liking letting my co-op partner going up front to draw fire and me sitting back with a sniper rifle removing heads. Very satisfying.

I had a couple of friends over for the weekend. We consumed much beer and played through Gears 2. It's a great game. Very satisfying in all the ways the first one was.

There was only one level in the game that was pretty bad and unnecessary. I assume the developers figured they needed to break up all the shooting and killing a bit, but they were wrong. I wont give any spoilers away, but for those who played it, it should be obvious.

We also played a little co-op "Horde." It was fun and very challenging.

Thinking a bit more on the game...

It's really a lot of fun. We played it through entirely and never got bored with it. No game does combat better. It just feels so visceral and the gunfights look incredibly cinematic.

I always thought that fight near the fountain in the first game was one of the best sequences of the game - where you are defending the fountain from attacks from all sides. Apparently, I wasn't alone in that and the developers picked up on that as there are a number of sequences with a similar feel.

The flame thrower is awesome. Lots and lots of fun.

Thinking back on it, the story didn't make much sense at all really. I still have no clue what about 75% of the game was about. Then again, a game like this is all about kicking ass, so the story is really not all that important.

The game didn't feel that challenging. While we played on "normal" level instead of "hardcore", we never really had too much difficulty with any particular scene or fight. Sure, we had to try somethings a handful of times before succeeding, but it was pretty rare.

Some spolierish comments:

Spoiler

The story was meh. I know its a trilogy so I assume other stuff will make sense after the third one, but I do agree it left a lot to be desired.

Thankfully I bought this game for reasons other then the story and on that it delievered.

The spoiler part about the worm was a nuisance, but at least it looked cool when you leave covered in blood. Beyond that though it was lame.

It was hard as shit on hardcore. Insane is next .. I am not sure how I will be able to beat that.

I've never really played GoW (1 or 2), but after watching friends play them both I have to say I agree on the cinematic comment. I honestly prefer to watch this game than play it, it just is too overwhelming to play, but is a blast to watch.

The co-op Horde game is a lot of fun. It's just you and your buddy against wave after wave of villians. The horde consists of a wide mix of villains, some I don't recall from the game.

There is one guy called a "Butcher", who is this giant fat Loctus with a meat cleaver in one hand and a hook instead of a hand on the other arm. It's unpleasant when he gets close enough to use that on you.

I also saw something that maybe in the main game, but we never saw until we played the Horde. My buddy was wounded and trying to get me to revive him. As he was crawling towards me one of the Loctus' jumped on his back and pummelled him to death with his fists. Brutal stuff. I didn't last much longer after that.
