'Beavis And Butthead' To Make A Big Screen Return

MTV animation Beavis And Butthead is set to be the latest TV series to make it to the big screen. The show was broadcast on the network in the 1990s, and creator Mike Judge concedes he's now ready for a live-action revival.

He says, "For some reason, I used to hate the idea for years. Now, I think maybe there's something there." Judge adds at one point in the 1990s Johnny Depp wanted to play Beavis.

However, Sean William Scott and Jon Heder are rumored to be lined up to star as the MTV-loving pals in the new creation.

Jon Heder as Butthead would be completely awesome. they practically have the same voice.

this movie may not appeal to you, cronin, you were probably too busy playing DM in your weekly Saturday Night D&D Party Jammie Jam in the 90's.

this is for people who watched beavis and butthead before going out for underage drinking during that era.

that horrible King of the Hill is in syndication, too, which is where the real money is made. he's not hurting for money. but if the Scoobie Doo series can get 2 live action movies, Harold & Kumar can get a sequel and Dude, Where's My Car become a cult hit, i don't see why a silly show like Beavis and Butthead couldn't get done.

i wouldn't pay to see this movie, but i'm not knocking its merits either. i won't even pay to see GI Joe in the theaters, didn't pay to see Transformers in the theaters either. and i prefer those franchises heads and above to Beavis & Butthead.

i still have a young spirit, but do you really have the same sense of humor you did as a teen? i watched Harold and Kumar go to whitecastle a few weeks ago for the 1st time, and even i knew i wasn't the target audience. i'm not in college and i don't smoke the ickiest of the sticky. its stupid humor, i wouldn't expect to find Beavis and Butthead funny as a 30 year old. its ok to let some things go.

i just happen to think the casting is on point. i would prefer Neil Patrick Harris as Beavis, though. he's skinny and has that angular face, and he obviously has comedic skills. NPH as Beavis, Header as Butthead - that's a decent movie that i would consider watching on dvd or renting.

King of the Hill is not horrible. There are whole towns actually like that in Texas, which makes it truely great IMO.

I'm 30, don't smoke weed, and think the first H&K is hilarious. Haven't seen the second yet.

Just because I'm older doesn't mean I can't appreciate what it was like to be 20 again.

I don't know, but my forehead looked exactly like that when I drunkenly walked into a telephone pole in New Brunswick. It was covered in heavy duty staples as a result of years of posters being stapled to it.

So, who plays the neighbor (I forget his name) and can do Judge's Hank Hill voice justice?

And is Jeanine Garofalo too old to play that Daria chick?

They are presumably in high school. Sean William Scott and Heder are getting a big old of portray young high school kids.

Mostly physically I mean.

They need complete nobodys to be beavis and butthead for this to work.

Now, if they want to go older, Johnny Knoxville might be perfect for this. Even Steve O too.

What's this hate for Harold and Kumar? That first one is one of the greatest stoner comedies of all time.

IMHO one of the most overrated comedies of the last few years. I just didn't see the comedy in driving around stoned looking for munchies. They deserved a single-car wreck and serious head injuries. Neil Patrick Harris was the best part of the movie and he was on screen less than 15 minutes.

As far as great stoner movies go, this one can't compare to the greats like Half Baked and Up In Smoke.

listen, you can't say "its one of the great stoner movies of all time". its not a funny movie. stoner movie is not slang for "a movie that is allowed to be not funny and just silly with not comedic intent since the main characters are high and the movie is appealing to an audience that would get the most enjoyment out of watching it while smoking herbs".

i can make a stoner movie right now if you're only criteria for a stoner movie is a silly plot and oh, yeah, there's some pot smoking scenes thrown in.

I'm with HA on Harold & Kumar *not* being a stoner movie.

I liked it for what it was: a wacky, absurdist college kid movie.

Whatever, I thought Harold and Kumar was brilliant. And its cult popularity indicates I'm not the only one. Hell, even the critics liked it (72% on rottentomatoes).

I don't think Haorld and Kumar was a "stoner" movie, and that it's a comedy more along the lines of Road Trip than Half Baked. But yes, the movie was brilliant and one of the best comedies ever.
