Urinals with a view
So after two pretty crappy days in Waco, we started driving home yesterday evening and since Austin traffic was crap as normal on I35 we decided to stop at Whole Foods (we don't have one where we live and the Austin one downtown is a good one).
To get to the point, they actually have a great bathroom because when you stand at the urinals there is a big window right in front of you that looks out on the fairly busy 6th Street. So as you piss you are looking at people sitting in their cars at a stop light or walking on the street. For some reason I get a kick out of it. I am sure there are other urinals with a set up like this but I haven't seen them before going to this one store. On a side note, after pissing I then get to go get some kickass beer and 6 year aged cheddar cheese to take home with me. It's a good little pitstop.

It could have been worse, you could have spent two crappy days in El Paso.
![]() My wife made her weekly trip to Whole Foods and got the same kind of cheddar cheese (just had some for lunch) but got the great pizza instead of beer. |

Not to take away from the great urinals, but the whole cheese thing is kind of new to me. I have never really tried much out of the norm, and I am now getting into trying other cheeses that I am finding I love. Whole Foods is great because they will let you sample and explain what they are and what they are good for. We also picked up some hard alpine cheese that smells like death but tastes fairly good.

I think every urinal should come with digital cable.

Aged alpine cheese! Best of all, you won't be able to smell it.

Whole Foods is awesome. Whole Foods burritos = win, as long as you're not looking for real mexican food.

Mock if you will, but I am very happy sitting here having just finished off some of both of the cheeses I bought and now finishing off the rest of my Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout from the Great Divide Brewing Co.
I should have picked up the normal Yeti Imperial Stout to compare, but at $7 for the 1 pint 6 oz. bottles I didn't want to go too crazy. This beer has now passed up Arogant Bastard on my personal list though of favorites though. I just need a urinal with a view now.

Not a urinal with a view, but I did come across a very odd urinal tonight:
We took my sister-in-law who graduated from UNO to dinner tonight after the graduation ceremony and a very fancy restaurant in New Orleans had every urinal packed with ice! What the heck is up with that? Am I supposed to enjoy the steam that results when I go? Very odd for an otherwise very classy restaurant. |

There is a bar in Windsor, ON called Bentleys that does that as well. I always assumed it was to help drain the urine when people don't flush. |

I've seen that quite often in other countries, and I think I remember seeing that in Manhattan. I kind of enjoy melting the ice - its like drawing in snow, not quite as much fun, but sort of the same thrill.

Since you were in New Orleans, you should know that people drink quite heavily in some establishments and urinal use goes up a lot. The reason ice is used in the urinals, especially the "horse trough" types, mainly, is to eliminate the strong odors that gallons of piss produce. |

I lived in New Orleans for 6 years. That was the first place that I ever saw that used this method. |

To avoid this, I just look at other men's penises to compare. Seems to pass the time.

I was at a bar a few weeks ago (Jerome Bettis' bar) by Heinz Field and while you are taking a piss you actually are looking back into the bar. There is a two way mirror behind the receptionist's desk which is actually the "wall" where the urinals are on in the mens room. Freaked me out the first time i took a piss.

That post by DC begs the question.
1) Is there a UrinalWithAView.com out there? 2) What is DC looking up pictures of urinals for anyways? ![]() SI
