Question about External Hard Drives

Can you run programs (games mostly) off of them if you install them directly onto that drive? If so, do they run as well or should an external drive be used only for storage?

You will get a performance hit using USB or Firewire but if you have the option of using eSATA it should function just as well as an internal drive.

I just ran into the same issue. Turns out that a second internal was best for holding game exe files, and the windows swap file. Moving the swap increased by performance by about 10% in COH.

It's External SATA. It'll give you the same speed that an internal drive will have.

Just depends on if your motherboard has a port for it or not.
