12x55 = 660

No insight here, but I figured I'd post the math to get things rolling.

My first idea was that it might represent dimensions of a geographical area. It's not the states, but something like (the E-W axis in miles) x (the N-S axis in miles) of some ordered list of places.

Quik's outside the box ideas are a better path to take than a math approach. One can solve this puzzle with no math at all.

Following the line of thought about those numbers being related to geography, if it's not lat/long, they could be interstate numbers. I think.

Nine "places" - looking for the 10th. What out there has 10? Islands? Football conference? what?

Sounds very promising.

40 x 75 = Knoxville
10 x 17 = Phoenix

12 x 55 = ???

Hammond is the largest city in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana. [1] [2] The population was 17,639 at the 2000 census. It is home to Southeastern Louisiana University. The city was the home base for production of the first season of the NBC television series In the Heat of the Night. Accepting evacuees after the destruction of New Orleans by Hurricane Katrina, Hammond nearly doubled in size to an estimated 37,000 people in 2005.

This is what I have so far. I think the interstate idea is a good one since each one is a pair of odd and even, meaning horizontal and vertical highway, meaning they all have the potential to intersect:

94 x 75 = Detroit, MI
74 x 70 = Indianapolis, IN
84 x 91 = Hartford, CT
20 x 65 = Birmingham, AL
80 x 81 = Wilkes-Barre, PA
24 x 57 = Goreville, IL
40 x 75 = Knoxville, TN
10 x 17 = Phoenix, AZ
12 x 55 = Hammond, LA

edit: but now what hehe

Are there any major landmarks in those cities near the intersection? Football stadium, college campus, historical museum, etc?

It seems like these locations are trending southwards (although I'm not positive about that). Is there an intersection south of Baton Rouge? Maybe somewhere in Texas?

I was trying to line up championships. Detroit has the Red Wings and Pistons that have won recently, Hartford would be UConn basketball, Indy would have the Colts, Knoxville is UT (right?), Alabama is football.

Wait, we're not talking WNBA teams are we?
