Exclamation FOFC Hattrick Rankings -- NEED YOUR INPUT

Okay, I didn't plan on announce this until had something definite, but I have decided to work on some sort of FOFC Hattrick rankings, in which every FOFCer's Hattrick would be ranked, based on their ratings in league games. Since you usually play your "A" team on league game, I think it would be accurate.

I've prepared a "sparser" and now what I'd have to do is go through every FOFC team's last league game and compile their position ratings in order to give their team a global rating. Right now I intent on using NevStar's rating (add up all position rating, counting midfield for three times its value)...

What do you think about this? Any interest? I would guess so.

Going through Hattrick, hunting for game rating should take me about 10-30 seconds a team, so I should be done at some point tomorrow or Thursday.

My main question was: Is there already some sort of rankings like that, or is there anybody already working on one??

I think it could enhance our enjoyment of the game to see where you rank compared to other teams from other countries and other division...

Your comments are welcome!

Later FrogMan.

This is an excellent idea.

I know the database at http://www.htscb.tk/ do these kind of ratings for higher division teams in a few countries, but they're based on stars (personally, I like using match ratings better, and not only because you're using my formula )

My idea came right from that site and the other one I saw where they ranked teams from Canada, where I wasn't rated too high btw...

I also think that match ratings are a better measuring stick. Besides, ain't what they say that "stars are evil" or the devil or something like that...

Not only is this an interesting idea -- it could be put to very good use seeding the FOFC Cup next season.

Question IMPORTANT QUESTION

Hey everyone, thanks for the positive feedback. I got a question though, especially for you long time Hattricker. Should we try to input some value for the keeper's performance into our rating's formula (okay, NevStar's index )???

The way it is set now, there's only a rating value for the outfielder positions. I'm thinking it might be interesting to add up a value for the keeper's performance, say add up his number of stars to NevStar's index. Maybe double his number of starswould be better. That way a 2.5 stars keeper would be the same as a passable rating (2.5*2=5) or would it be too aggressive? I'm asking for your personnal experience. Is the keeper enough of a factor to be added to the our formula? Maybe if it's not enough of a big factor, we could simply add one time the stars.

Please view this as an informal poll.

I did about 10 of the 72 teams in dacman's list over my coffee break period this afternoon so I'm not too much into it that it would be a pain to do it all over. I'd also like to be able to have the right data from teh start, if we want to reference to it later in the future.

Thanks for any input.

Later, Frogman.

Killer idea, for starters.

For adding keeper value...should be factored in. How, I don't know. My only line of thinking is to say that I don't think a keeper makes THAT big of difference for a team. IE the difference between, say, a 2 star keeper and a 3 star keeper is not that bigga deal if the team with the 2 star keeper has a stronger presence in the outfield.

Actually, the keeper's ratings are included in figuring the match ratings. It's the most important factor in the 3 defense ratings.

This will be easy just use my team as the lowest denominator.

I think using the rankings would be a great idea. I will be using the top 8-16 seeds (depending on what format we have to use and how many teams we have) for next season's cup based on this season's cup performance and ausonny has the #3 seed. Winner and runner-up get the 1 and 2 seeds. Other than that, seedings could easily be used.

I believe that your Keeper ratings are part of your Central Defense ratings. I don't think that you need to add it in. Otherwise, this sounds like a wonderful idea. I also like that Horned might use them for seedings.

What NevStar said.

By the way, this is a great idea, and I am looking forward to seeing it. Good stuff.

Thank DK, and thanks to everyone for your positive comments. After thinking about it, it makes sense that the keeper's rating is added inside the defender ratings. I just needed some FOFCer with more Hattrick seniority to confirm it

This is the way I'll do the ratings, with NevStar's index (happy Nev? ). As I said, I had about 10-11 done this afternoon but I should breeze through it all tonight.

I definitely hope to be able to post the official FOFC Hattrick Rankings for week 18-14 later on tonight...

Later, FrogMan

If it comes out right, I think it would be a good way to seed the tournament as well as setting up challenges.

For the fortieth time, this is an awesome idea! I think something like this could also be useful for the next FOFC Cup, which is sure to be much larger than the one held last season and may even include regional play in a national tournament. All in all this looks to be not just an awesome tool for measuring all the FOFC Hattrick clubs, but also a practical tool in helping those in charge of the FOFC Cup to come up with the best possible tournament! Thanks FrogMan!

Funny you said that because the way my listing is sorted (by Country, then series), your team is the very last one I'll process

Only 12 to go from the original 72 in dacman's list. Then I'll scan for newly added team...

edit: 'cause I can't stand tpyos (that one was an extra)

Yeah, almost. Just need some formatting to make it presentable. I might just post an ugly list and work on it tomorrow... Anxious? Don't worry, your team is in the top 10, but you still got some work to do... Now back to work
