Mentors and Red Flags

Just wondering what makes a player a mentor, at a quick glance I first thought it was a high intelligence, but then after looking at about 20 mentors I found no really strong correlation. I found a mentor that had never started a game, I found some with low and high ratings in about every category, as young as 5 yrs pro.... Nothing in the help file.

Also wondering what effect a Red Flag has on a character, I've had one one my team for the last 14 years and never noticed a problem with the guy. Some day I'd like to assemble a full team of red flags and see what would happen, anything?

Intelligence and leadership make mentors.

From what I've read, a red flag means the player might be detrimental to your team.

But an explanation beyond that would crack the game engine wide open. ... Supposedly we should be able to determine it's actual effects from game logs.
