Can we PLEASE get a consensus on how to pronounce this?

During gulf war 1, it was kuh-TAR - rhymed with guitar.
During the past month or so, it was pronounced cutter.
Now I hear commentators on NBC and CNN pronouncing it gotter.

I believe it is pronounced "cutter", at least thats how the friends i have who speak arabic pronounce it.

I think the way it's pronounced is ka-TAR.

I thought it was more like "gudder" but I know its not qa-TAr...or so my AP Human Geography teacher says.
