The CFL Openings and Waiting List

The CFL is one month away from it's Real Life 5th year anniversary. The league started on October 21, 2003. History

We are currently starting Free Agency before the 2017 season. The draft list is out, but the draft does not start until Monday.

We have two openings as of now: Seattle Thunderbirds and the Boston Red Devils.

Seattle 2017: (4-12) Has an amazing young QB going into his 4th season but has been stuck behind a former MVP, 2-time Offensive Player of the Year, and 4 time All-League 1st team QB who is entering his 16th season and probably his last. However, that is about where the good news ends for this team as they only have 3 players with future ratings of 60 or better. Those 2 QB's and an offensive guard. They need help, but have the young QB to build around, the 3rd overall pick in this upcoming draft, as well as all of their picks in rounds 2 through 7. Get a stud with the 3rd overall pick, and a starter or two with the 2.5 pick and the 3.4 pick.

Boston 2017: (11-5) Won Division Boston is going to need some help going forward. Their QB is now a free agent and is a 15 year veteran. They do not have anyone behind him at QB. They have a decent 2nd year RB and 4th year WR to build around on the offensive side of the ball. Their defensive star is a 3rd year OLB who excels against the run. This is a team that is surprisingly not deep at all for an 11-5 division winner last year. Boston also owns all of it's 7 draft picks this year, and pick 27th overall in the first round.

Of the two teams, Boston appears to be the bigger challenge as they only have 17 players under contract and their draft picks are much later in the rounds then Seattle's. There actually is some nice talent in Free Agency this year, but you need to hurry in to have a chance at any of it. Seattle can pick a stud at #3 or trade down and get more starters, they just have more options and appear to be able to make the turn around quicker then Boston.

I'd like to add its a very laid back league, a lot of owners play their own style and just have a good time. It might not get them the most wins, but its fun.

I'd like to add that Brooklyn is a great young team... Add a few more pieces to the puzzle and they will be a real force to reckon with. Only 1 starter is in his 10th year or more, and its a C. Most are in their 5th year or less.

We have one more opening. The Tampa Bay Torpedoes have a good mix of young and veteran talent and have a lot of history in the CFL. We're just getting ready to start the 2018, so it's the perfect chance to jump in.

Tampa Bay has been filled, but we have another opening. The Seattle Thunderbirds are coming off a 4-12 season and are due for a major overhaul. The Thuderbirds have vets that can be dealt, lots of cap room and the third overall pick in this years draft. Head over to the CFL Forum, and express interest and get the rebuilding process going.

The CFL is coming to the end of our 16th year and will have two teams open at the end of the year. Now is a great time to join and become familiar with your new team. The two teams are:

Huntington Beach Capitalists

The Good: Good young running back and wide receiver and strong defensive line talent. Will draft no lower than #2 in the upcoming draft.

The Bad: Other than the positions listed, the roster is in need of a complete overhaul. Aging QB that never played up to his potential.

Texas Sundevils

The Good: Entering Week 17, they hold a Wild Card spot in the Western Football Conference. Tons of defensive talent, both young and old. Three first round picks in next years draft.

The Bad: Offense needs work. No 2nd or 3rd round picks in upcoming draft.

Logo and name changes are fine. Relocation has to be done in-game.

We have another opening in the CFL. The Brooklyn Tigers have suffered through a few rough seasons and look like they're getting ready to turn the corner.

The Good- Young, good QB and solid secondary. Early pick in the upcoming draft.

The Bad- Mediocre talent at all positions besides QB, CB and S.

We're just getting ready to start the 2019 season later this week, so now is the time to join.

Tampa Bay Torpedoes- Tampa Bay is in excellent shape. Stars on both sides of the ball and cap room to play with next year. Great situation for someone to jump aboard and instantly contend.

Anchorage Wolfpack- According to the in-game roster rating, the Wolfpack sits at 100 in the CFL. Norm Fisk is begging to win a title. Another great situation here.

We're getting ready to enter the playoffs, so you'll have time to renegotiate any contracts and get ready for 2020.

Take your pick

Tampa Bay is a great option for an owner that is looking for immediate gratification. Good team with a bunch of good picks next year. They also recently announced they will be moving to St. Louis.

Fargo is more of a long-term rebuild. They have lots of good pieces to deal.

Fargo has been filled, while Tampa Bay is still available. Tampa is off to a great 4-1 start and has a bunch of high draft picks next season. Great opportunity here.
