Using two computers

I did a search but couldn't find anything...

I'm looking to be able to save my league file on a thumb drive to be able to play at work and at home. What files do I need to save? Is this even possible?

~thanks in advance...

Check the Solecismic F.A.Q. I'm pretty sure it covers this.

Got it...

How do I transfer a saved game from one computer to another?

You need to take all the files from the "universe" and "leagues" directories of one installation, and place them in their respective directories of the second installation.

This will overwrite all the saved games from the second installation, so you should back these up first.

Do you know which files actually need to be copied? I see the files under universe (under my league name - 13 of these files)

just not sure what else I need copied?

I'm pretty sure you just need the files with the league name prefix. If you've got batch files for MP leagues you'll of course need the contents of the directories that are copied through that script.

Anything custom done to the frfoot.* files as well, although those replace all the team/city data to the install you move them to.

I really wish it was possible to install the game on an external drive, it would make our life so much easier when playing from 2 PCs.

The league files in Vista are saved in Universe, just as they always have been in prior versions.

okay - it is under the universe folder on my other computer. My laptop for some reason has nothing in the universe folder (but I do have 3 leagues I'm able to open in game). On my PC I'm seeing my league in the universe folder... when I copy the league files from my PC and paste them in the universe folder on my laptop I get no option to open the league...

any thoughts?

Have a look in the FOF2K7 reference thread...there is a Vista FAQ that may be able to help.

Yup, Vista does not allow writing to the Program Files directory, so you either have to tell it to allow it on the FOF folder, or find your files in the "Compatibility Files" link in the folder where Vista stuffs things that programs do try to write to this area.
