Looking for a way to connect my PS3 to my laptop to use the screen as a monitor.
Is this possible?

You'd most likely need some sort of tuner card for your pc. It would need to have component or HDMI in for good graphics

Yeah, but not only do you need component/HDMI inputs on the card, you will also need it to support HDCP. Not sure how common that is for laptop cards, but it is certainly *not* common for LCD monitors. Took me quite some time to track one down.

I could be wrong, but it was my understanding that the HDCP is a must. Your only other option is to run it through a 'VGA box' (easily obtainable from Ebay), which I did for a time. It works but the picture quality really suffers to the point that you'd be better off just playing it on a regular TV.

Doesn't the PS3 have a VGA Cable extension like the XBOX360?

No, only composite or HDMI. About connecting the PS3 to the notebook... you would need a TV tuner with composite or HDMI inputs. A google search for "pc tv tuner hdmi" showed this: HDMI input: Asus HDTV Suite-HDMI turns your monitor into a TV - Engadget That is an starting point, search for more or ask at your computer store, a composite TV tuner will be probably easier to find than an HDMI one as the later is newer and probably more expensive too. Whatever you buy, make sure you can return it if it doesn't work for you, i have had bad experiences with TV tuners in the past with bad signal or not doing what they are supposed to do or at least on an easy way. Instead of hooking it to your notebook and expending money in a TV tuner, to probably end with bad results, i would buy a TFT monitor with hdmi input for your PS3. As i have my PS3 in my PC room, i bought a 24" Benq TFT both for my PC and PS3. It has a little button to change the input from PC to PS3 so i have both always plugged into it ad just push that button to switch between them.
