2009 Draft Class

I am currently considering creating a 2009 Draft Class from scratch. I know it's quite early but which underclassmen do you guys think I should include? Feel free to make recommendations! I'll try to keep it realistic, so I'd like to include only prospects who are likely to declare after the season (e.g. WR M.Crabtree)...

Rivals.com has rankings of players at every position. I suppose you could include as many of those as you'd like.

Pretty much every eligible RB who might get drafted will come out.

Good starting place:

Rivals.com College Football - NFL Draft: Ranking the underclassmen

edit: The right number of players to include is probably 40-50. 39 underclassmen were drafted last year, and there were probably some who declared but were not drafted.

slightly educated guess:

Andre Smith, OT, Alabama
Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech
Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri
Vantae Davis, CB, Illinois
Knowshon Moreno, RB, Georgia
Chris Wells, RB, Ohio State
LeSean McCoy, RB, Pittsburgh
Jermaine Cunningham, DE, Florida
Percy Harvin, WR, Florida
Taylor Mays, FS, USC
Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland
Myron Rolle, SS, Florida State
Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma
Geno Atkins, DT, Georgia
Maurice Evans, DE, Penn State
Rico McCoy, LB, Tennessee
Ciron Black, OT, LSU
Josh Freeman, QB, Kansas State
C.J. Spiller, RB, Clemson
Greg Hardy, DE, Ole Miss
Brandon Spikes, LB, Florida
George Selvie, DE, South Florida
Greg Middleton, DE, Indiana
Ricky Sapp, DE, Clemson
Sen'Derrick Marks, DT, Auburn
Keiland Williams, RB, LSU
Terrence Cody, DT, Alabama
P.J. Hill, RB, Wisconsin
DeMarco Murray, RB, Oklahoma
Trevard Lindley, CB, Kentucky
D.J. Moore, CB, Vanderbilt
Kam Chancellor, SS, Virginia Tech
Matt Stafford, QB, Georgia
Gerald McRath, OLB, Southern Mississippi
Sean Weatherspoon, OLB, Missouri
Sen'Derrick Marks, DT, Auburn
Al Woods, DT, LSU
Vince Oghobaase, DT, Duke
Austin English, DE, Oklahoma

I used to use Rivals, Draft Express and Scout.com (among others) while reseaching my baskeball sim's draft classes. Each of these resources has a college footbal section as well. Looking forward to seeing your draft file soon. Good luck.

I've read that there might be 100 underclassmen next season, easily, because the salary cap may be removed as the owners opt out of the last bargaining agreement.

In that event, the owners can impose the old salary system, which would mean far less guaranteed money to rookies. So there will be many, many underclassmen, including bunches who might not even be drafted, trying to get a foot in the door.

Any Luck???

I was thinking about this also. I have run into the problem of running a SP career though the 2008 draft, only to go into 2009 with a comp generated draft, which includes a bunch of stub QBs and everything else.

Just wondering what is the easiest way to create some .FAF draft files for some upcoming years, so this wont happen.

thanks

I think the consensus is that the FOF-generated draft files are the most balanced as far as talent distribution. If you're thinking all the QB's are studs that have high scores and sit on the top of the draft, that's not really true, they just happen to have high adjusted scores because they're quarterbacks, but that doesn't mean that they're studs. You really only need to generate draft files if you want to have them based on real players, or want to skew the talent distribution is some way.

Yes that is true. Let me rephrase...

What is the easiest way to make a .FAF file so I can include a real upcoming draft class?

thanks
