Day 1
9AM 225lbs 9PM 222lbs Day 2 9AM 219lbs 9PM 217 Day 3 9AM 216 9PM Finish 9AM Water Fast equals water. After reading many studies on this I have decided to go for the 1/2 ounce per lb of weight. This means I will be shooting for 112 ounces per day. The last meal was my traditional "made weight" that I used in the past after my 24 hour fasts. 2 Peanut butter Jelly sandwiches, 4 Safeway Donuts, a bag of Doritos Cool Ranch and some Kraft French Onion Dip. I am a healthy person in general, but no health nut. I love to eat way to much. I have completed many 24 hour fasts in the past and used one every Sunday this summer to help me lose over 30lbs. I have many books on the benefits of a fasting and have always wanted to attempt a 3 day fast, but never got around to it. The secret to my successful 24 hour fasts has always been sleep, so this is exactly how I started this fast.

Day 1.
I weighed in at 9AM (225lbs) after my big meal and then went to bed around 10AM. I work nights so it was a typical sleep for my last night at work before my weekend started. I managed to sleep till around 7PM and hung out in bed for another hour in bed watching TV before getting up and getting ready for work. I weighed in at 9PM (222), the 3lb overnight weight loss is about average for me. My bike ride into work felt normal and took the standard 25 minutes. Work was okay from 10PM to about 2PM, but after skipping lunch, which should have been a meat lovers Pizza, I did start to get a little headache. I finished up work around 6AM and had the typical bike ride home. Passed on doing my morning workout on the elyptical and just played games on the computer. Watched TV on the couch for another hour before weighing in at 9AM (219) and then went to bed. Took my Bed time Vitamins and slammed my usual 16OZ of water with 1/4 teaspoon of Sea Salt and went to bed. So, in the first 24 hour period I lost 6lbs. Nothing out of the ordinary for A 24hour fast for me. Everything is like "been there done that" so far.

Day 2
I woke up around 1PM, or that is the time I decided to finally get out of bed, I had already been up twice to go to the bathroom. The 112 ounces of water is going to take its toll on my water bill ![]() Played on the computer most of the day, did manage to watch Zohan, and later got out of the house to do some shopping for a new recliner. Still drinking the water, and beside from a slight Headache I still feel good. All this water is leaving me feeling full and not hungry. Except for all the fast food commercials on TV, no major cravings so far. 9PM's weight check went well as I dropped another 2 lbs in the last 12 hours, but I am behind in my water drinking for the day; only 50 ozs down. I think I will hit the couch and watch Leatherheads while I try to get caught back up on the water input. No major hunger pains, and still only a slight headache to report. Actually I feel quite good for 36 hours into my fast. Day 2 is almost over with another sleep cycle coming on. Funny, I have always read that Day 2 was supposed to be the hardest.

Day 3
Slept in today untill about 10AM. Weighed in at 216. Down only 1 pound from last night, but I did really pound the water down to hit my 112 OZ mark last night. I always feel real good after waking up. My headache is gone, and I have plenty of energy right now. And the day continues.

So is it about only drinking water for 3 days?
While i also think it can help to clean your organism, i have also doubts about how healthy it is (i'll search for on of those books you referenced). The main problem i see is that when you don't eat, your body starts to "eat himself". At he same time that your body uses your fat reserves to get energy, the muscle is destroyed too at faster pace than the fat. It forces a lot of chemical reactions in your body that create a ton of toxins from transforming that muscle into sugar. Your pee and even your breath smells a lot because that, as the proteins are broken to be transformed into sugar, leaving a ton of acetone formed in the process, like when following a sever atkins no carbs diet). Acetone is also the main cause of those headaches described, your body is poisoning itself with that amount of acetone. I have thought about having an only water day per week to help a diet, specially when you hit those walls where you seem to not to be able to lose more weight for a while, but i'm concerned about how healthy it can be.
