Nebraska Child Abandonment
I know we are missing some context as laws probably do not allow the news to dig deeper and report on individual cases, but I am incredibly sympathetic to the parents and children.
Its one thing to give a baby up for adoption, its another to actually abandon your teenage kid. There must have been desperate reasons but can you imagine whats going through the minds of the kids? I don't really know what to think. Neb. parents rush kids to 'safe havens' - Life Quote:

The law has been changed to only include kids who are 3 days old or less.

Every other state in the nation has this sort of law on the books, all with an age limit attached.
It does sound kind of curious that they could have overlooked that sort of thing. |

It wasn't that it was overlooked, from what I've read. They couldn't decide on an age when they were writing the law and when it was pointed out that "child" could open up the door to teenagers being dropped off they didn't think parents would even consider doing such a thing. |

They apparently had never raised a teenager.
