They should do the honorable thing and raffle it off to the highest bidder!

While I don't think she should have a Senate seat, I've always had a thing for Fran Drescher. I can't explain it, but there it is.

There are a lot of people in this world for whom the act of physical love is a joyous one, filled with raucous merriment. Man and woman flaunt their sexuality to one another, taunting and teasing their partner so that the rise of passion is joined by ascending peals of giggling and hearty laughter.

I hope to God you're not one of those people.

How much worse could she be? Seriously. I'm a firm believer that anyone who truly wishes to hold political position should never be allowed to.

So basically shoot them all, draw names out of a hat and whamo, we have a new congress and senate.

I think NBC should turn it into a reality show. "Blank" Goes to Washington. Let New Yorkers vie for the seat a la "American Idol".

Sarah Palin would totally have to be one of the celebrity judges.

Fran.

For her age, and for a potential politician, she's pretty hot. I'll just mute the TV when she talks.

Now it looks like Caroline Kennedy wants her seat. Too bad actual New Yorkers get to vote on who we want (trumphs the idea of democracy).

New Yorkers don't get to vote on anything. David Patterson will pick her successor, just as Blago would've picked Barry's successor in the Senate.

Hence, Kennedy's lobbying. They're saying, however, that Hil and Co., obviously don't want her in the spot because she supported Obama and because she'd probably be able to hang onto it and block Hil from going back and claiming it, if they were out after one-term.

Whoever gets it will have to run in 2 years, per Senate rules, but...it's any guess who'll get the gig.

Well, since we are a representative republic, yeah it does.

Trust me, I live upstate. The problem with this is state is the lack of voice of any place outside of New York State.

And this state will continue to lose its population (and voice) with all of it's greedy tax plans it wants.

I'm with Kos on wanting Patterson to appoint someone who wouldn't run in 2010 or would be too weak to win. Kennedy may make a fine Senator, but she should have to run for it like anyone else. People want this because it's almost a guaranteed lifetime appointment without having to run for office.
