Noob Questions!

Hi all

I've just struggled through my first season: 1-15, but probably cos I'm trying to change the team to my style too fast.

Going into the draft I somehow missed the entire scouting programme, so I didn't use any of my interviews! When does this option become active? During or before FA #1? I found it puzzling that you couldn't see the draft before FA (so you would have some idea of your drafting plans and know who to release wand who you really had to cling on to). But I expect I just missed the option- anyone mentor me?

And on the slim chance that there's any Brits around here who used to play the play-by-mail Britbowl in the early 90s (if you enjoyed that you could find your way here) the Dublin Patriots HC says hi!

The draft pool is revealed and players are available for interview at the start of FA1.

A number of Brits around who played "Gameplan" play-by-mail. That game went from the late 80's until the present day. Thats how the RDFL MP league came about being formed.

You can start interviewing right as the draft class is revealed, but you lose the option to interview somewhere in early to mid FA (not sure exactly which stage), so get 'em done quickly. I always have all 60 done before FA 2.

Thanks All!

I must have missed the option, didn't even go look at the draft. I do have an old save, funny thing is the draft tied in quite nicely with my FA actions (I didn't go mad in FA; a 1-15 team needs a couple of drafts before flashing the cash). And my "blind" draft only came up with one bust.

Good advice to get interviews done by R2, no point hanging on is there?

Hammer- you've reminded me this one was called Britbowl and folded in 92 0r 93, with the Dublin Patriots in the Southern Conference championship game. We were underdogs (I rated the opposition Streatham Bengals to win the bowl) but not bad for a 4 year old expansion team. Once I've got to grips with FOF I'll look for a MP league.

Another question- can you shop your draft picks? I would've traded down from first overall if I could have worked out how to.

You can trade up/down and the AI will value draft picks according the NFL draft value chart (I think can be found on ESPN's website). If I remember correctly there is a draft value calculator tool on the reference thread.

Got it. I can see how to shop a player (add the player to the trade box, click shop player) but not a draft pick (if I put the pick into the trade box the "shop player" greys out)

I'm just finishing off my scouting- finding some players for the lower rounds- and definitely want to get rid of #1!
