Trading with CPU controlled teams

In my current SP league I am having a hard time to initiate trades with AI-controlled teams that involve my players.

On many different occasions I tried to trade better players (50-60 overall rating) for draft picks.
I don't see why it is not possible to trade a 55-rated Center for even a 7th round pick or a 60-rated WR for a 7th rd. pick. No GM shows interest when shopping and nobody is willing to take the salary of that player if I try directly.

On the other hand the AI offers a 7th rounder for e.g. my 40/50 rated starting FB, which is not a good offer, but somehow sets a bar for the value of a 7th rounder.

It does work better for young players but not for like 5+ year experience.

IMHO it should be possible to trade average players for low round picks - happens all the time in the NFL. Was the trade logic a bit overlooked and is too hard because so many people play FOF2k7 in MP leagues, or am I missing something?

What are your experiences in trading with the AI?

I'm a noob tha plays SP as well. Is there somewhere that lists strategy for Trading? I'd much rather approach a trade attempt with some kind of underlying strategy that's going to be close to being accepted than just hunting and pecking until I get an accepted trade.

Trading draft picks works very well if you consider the draft pick value chart from NFL teams that can be found on e.g. the ESPN website.
It then is your call to judge if you consider for example a "1-16" + a "2-16" for a "1-8" a viable trade. But the AI seems to honor that point system. (A calculator utility can be found on the FOF2007 reference thread - Thanks to the creator!!!).

If it comes to trading players, that's when I'm having trouble seeing a pattern.
Though, my more recent experiences show that trading younger players is much easier.

Generally an above average starter(60ish overall) brings back a 4th, if he's under 6-7 years and doesn't play OT, DT, DE, CB, WR or QB. Those positions are probably valued the highest, with middle linebacker next in line. A really good guy at one of those positions will probably bring back a 2nd, some QBs might get a first. It's sort of random, but that's the pattern that I think I've seen develop. Sometimes 50ish qbs will bring back a 4th, but it's iffy. Older players are not worth that much, and in the end, it doesn't really matter all that much if they are going to only bring back a 6th anyways.

I do think the computer offers for star type players are wacked, at least some of the one's I've seen. But occasionally you'll get offered something totally unexpected for a guy you could live without. So i usually take those suprise 2nd round picks like gifts from the gods.

Basically if trading were too easy, you could just sign 50ish guys and then trade them the next season and just keep stockpiling 10 plus picks per draft. That wouldn't be that fun anyways.

I`m having trouble trading too.Its no where near as user friendly as Mogul or OOTP5.My "Franchised SIL 80/80,8years in league has refused to sign a long term contact with me last season, had to franchise him as weak at that position. This year he held 80/80 rated 2nd Inside Linebacker in Football with Greta.I shopped him ,lots of interst, but best I could get was a 6th round pick.A 6th round pick for the 2nd best Inside Linebacker in football!
Granted at the end of this season he`ll want a huge multi-year deal( I couldn`t afford that),but a 6th round pick?
