Technical problems.

It has been a long time since I can remember having problems with FOF, but I am now.

I went to start up the game the other day via batch file and it started, but the correct changes did not take place. I tried another batch file and that did not work. I checked batch files to make sure they were still correct (they were, I have used the same ones for years now). Ignoring that I went to load up my one MP game anyways, and it wasn't there. Shut down, opened again, same thing. Rebooted, same thing. The files are sitting there in the correct FOF directories. Going back to the city/nickname files, I manually changed them and the game still did not make the change when I opened it.

I have decided to uninstall and reinstall FOF. Of course that has come with it's own roadblock, in that when I try to go into my eLicence files it opens the window and shuts it down right away.

The whole thing makes little sense to me. I guess I will uninstall, ask for another license and see what happens.

Vista? The eLicense thing sounds like you did not Run As Administrator. The others sound like the changes are going to Compatibility Files, so you need to open up Security on the FOF folder and/or install to a place other than Program Files. See the Vista FAQ.

If not Vista, I don't know, unless you are suddenly a Limited User rather than Administrator.

Yes I have Vista.

The problem is fixed. I am guessing it may have been something along the lines of what you posted Greg, though I really don't have much of an idea of what it was still. I was running as Admin the whole time, I just checked all those settings and nothing is different. I did turn User Account Control off for a bit two days ago. It was back on hours later though, and as I just said all my settings were the same as before. I didn't make any changes right now to them at all.

What I did do was take all league files out of the Solecismic/FOF directories, deleted all files from all old games no longer in use, both MP and solo. I then returned the moved files back to where they need to go (leagues folder, universe folder, main FOF directory). I just tried it and my saved MP game was there, cities and nicknames were correct once loaded.

Weird, this thing just pooped up on me again. I am wondering if it has to do with launching the game from a docking station? I don't feel like trying to fix it tonight, I spent too much time messing with Ubuntu today already.
