Formula One dead?
I know we don't have much of a F1 crowd here, but I found the news of 8 teams (Ferrari, the main draw, leading the teams) announcing they are breaking away to form a new series next year. I believe that Monaco, the crown jewel in the F1 schedule, would go where Ferrari is going.
Formula One teams announce rival championship - CNN.com Reminds me of the IRL/CART spilt, but the new series would have all the cards. |

This is just brinkmanship. At some point both sides will come to an agreement, with each side conceding something and claiming victory.

Wow, now we Americans can not care about F1 racing in new and different ways!

I hope it will succeed and both the nazi Mossley and Ecclestone (who gets 50% of the F1 rights, with the other 50% to be split between all the teams) will lose it all and will end with a devalued F1.

I didn't realize there was a difference between IRL/Cart/F1.
Or, yeah, what QS said. |

Personally I am hoping the FIA win. F1 went downhill when the independent teams were replaced with manufacturers. It does not matter how high tech the cars are if the racing is boring.
