personality view

except for leadership, I have no idea what the other personalities (intelligence, loyalty, play to win, personality, fan pop) do. I assume that since these numbers vary from 0-100 they should mean something more significant than, say, A thru F. Could anyone shed any insight?

These are the only things I can think of immediately.

Intelligence - Increases chance of a QB to learn new formations in training camp.

Loyalty - If high, then there might be a FA bidding bonus of some sort (if you are the owning team), so you won't have to match the highest offer, but how low can you go? Who knows.

Play To Win - If high, then there is a FA bidding bonus of some sort for teams with winning records or playoff teams perhaps? How low can you go compared to an offer from a losing team? I don't know.

So, in theory, if a bad team has a great player with a loyalty of 0 and a Play to Win of 100, he should be easily stolen in Free Agency. The reality is, of course, that the player stays with the team through renegotiation. If these #'s have an effect on the renegotiation salary demands, that would be very cool, but I doubt it.

Personality - Affects cohesion. A high score is great if the player gets along with position leader, a low score is good if the player has a conflict with position leader.

Fan Pop - Players with good fan population positively affect ticket sales.

Also, increases the chance that a veteran player (5+ years experience) becomes a mentor.

From recent events in the UFL featuring several players deciding to eschew around 10 multi million dollar contract offers in favor of a one year deal worth 300k or so.. I'll have to look more into what his ratings are in those areas, as well as how the team did, and who he likes on the team.

There also seems to be some impact of Play to Win on the effectiveness of a leader. I don't have data to really back that up, but I can say that the Gridiron Greta list of "Best Leaders" is ordered with regard to three criterion: Leadership, Play to Win, and Position. Some positions (my observation is that QB, MLB, and S seem to be the top of the ordering), are given greater weight in the formula, but a combination of Leadership and Play to Win accounts for most of the ordering. What does it really mean? I don't know, but it's another place where these personality traits are being used to tell us something.
