Post Getting worried...

Almost 4 p.m. PST now and still no FedEx delivery of my CM4.

They have until 4:30 p.m., but my guess is somehow they didn't egt around to me today and that annoys the heck out of me. They already kept it sitting in their sorting facility for one whole unnecessary day (and leading to a three-day wait because of the weekend).

It says on my shipping tracking page that the package has been on a delivery van since 7:20 a.m. this morning. I admit that I selpt until 12 p.m. (late night guy and it's a day off), but I kept the door wide open, and my dogs were foraging around. They would have barked up a storm if he came to the door, and that would have woken me up. On top of that, I have a note pinned to the door, signed and dated, instructing him that I was giving permission to leave the package at the door. And still no package.

Since 12 p.m. I have been here at that apartment, and haven't dared to leave. I just don't think I would have missed him, or if I somehow did, why would he not leave the package. That only leaves that it has not arrived yet, and we're approaching their deadline for delivery.

So I'm bummed. I was really hoping to get it early, so I could take a good crack at it today. I mean, that's what days off are for, right?

Dude... it's a computer game. You're acting like a kidney transplant patient that just got stood up on the operating table.

If my tone conveys that much angst, that's not quite true. But I am annoyed. Is it okay with you that I be annoyed that it hasn't arrived yet, Franklinnoble? If it's okay with you, then I will feel a lot better having gotten the seal of approval.

Not only is it a computer game, it's a soccer game. Waiting for it to arrive has got to be more interesting than actually playing it.

LMAO, so I finish typing this thing, respond to Franklinnoble and putz around for five more minutes...

when my dogs start barking like mad. I stick my head out the upstairs window, and sure enough, there's a FedEx van peeking around the corner. I check my watch. 4:17 p.m....sonofacbitch...

Well, they certainly do cut it close. I retract my previous angst, and now it's time to check this baby out!

Lucky son of a gun. Ordered mine Saturday from Special Reserve. 5-7 days. Ugh. The wait will kill me.

Yeah, I've gotten the game, and haven't had too much time to put into it. But I can already tell the learning curve is huge. All I know about soccer I learned from Hattrick, and that's so ridiculously watered down compared to this game. I'm going to have to devote a day to it just to learn...

But reading over the manual and other things, I can't wait to get immersed! This game just sounds amazing, from press interaction to watching the 2D match engine. I played one game so far (did the walkthrough with Southend), and I gotta say I was pumped whenever that match engine popped up. And by that point, I didn't even know my players' names. Once I start getting into this game, look out!

Chief, my admiration for you has fallen a bit. All this over a soccer game??? How un-patriotic of you.

(wait for the smilies to come up)

Vince don't worry. I got CM3, and when i went to play it I was confused. I couldn't figure out what it meant that I need eleven outfielders before I could play a match. For 5 minutes, I thought "What does baseball have to do with soccer?" But soon, I figured it out, and the rest is history. Okay maybe not history, but I did become addicted.

Please don't make me try to steal money out of my wife's wallet for a soccer sim.

I seriously will have to d/l the demo tomorrow from work and just see if I can get into this game.

Damnit Chief!
I have a day off tomorrow so my fingers are crossed that it comes in. I've been reading up a lot about 'football' just so that i'd be familiar with the names once i got the new version.

Have fun man.

I've been playing for about an hour and a half now. Its pretty fucking deep. I'm playing dually right now to test different parts of the US leagues (1 team in the A-League, 1 in MLS). SO far its pretty cool. I don't have $$$ to purchase anyone for Charlotte, and the freebies want nothing to do with me. Meanwhile, in DC, you can only trade players, and finding the balance is fairly difficult. So far I haven't reached any friendlies, but this one is far more involved than previous versions. I looked at the training options, and immediately clicked the back arrow. I know a lot about soccer, but even some of that stuff threw me off.

And CR,
I ordered like 12 hours after you did, got mine at 8:15 this morning, over here in Greenville, SC. Funny how I can get it faster despite being all the way across the country. Gotta love FedEx.

That was a waste of a "bite me", since heaven knows when the Chief will get around to reading it.

Wow! I'm glad mine actually shipped yesterday. I'm hoping it arrives today, but apparently it has been sitting in Texas for a few hours already so I have my doubts.

I ordered mine from Special reserve. I noticed that you could call in, and place an order since I don't have a credit card. The guy was kinda hard to understand.
