Down 10 points, FG or TD on 4th down
Hello,
I am a SP, and let the coach call all the plays. I have run into this multiple times and was wondering if I can change a setting. Down by 10 points, 4th down, in field goal range and my team goes for it instead of kicking the field goal. Once it was 4th and long and we still went for it. Thoughts? Thanks |

I'm not real sure time is relevant in this situation. Think of it this way, what do you need to make up a 10 point deficit? You need atleast two scores. Regardless of how much time is left you still need 10 points. I think the question is how long were the field goals going to be rather than how much time was left.

Each time it was around the five minute mark in the 4th quarter.
Each time it was a reasonable field goal try 30-40 yards. |

Let me add one thing....I understand these coaching decisions during a simulation are subjective...and I am okay with that. I was hoping to maybe understand how to make adjustments to my gameplan to adjust to my needs.
Do you think this is tied to the setting of trying fourth down? Thanks. |

I suspect that the answer to this one is quite simple: that if you're in hurry-up offense, it will always go for it on 4th down unless you're down by 3 or less. I'm guessing that hurry-up is just coded that way.
