Ok, I screwed something up in IE version 6, and now certain pages like ESPN won't show (no error message, just shows up as blank).
I tried lowering my security settings, accepting all cookies, etc. and still nothing. Being the wonderful world of MS, I tried re-downloading IE 6.1 and I got a message saying I already had a newer version, and it wouldn't overwrite it. Now I'm stuck. Any technical advice would be appreciated. ![]() |

Why not try uninstalling it, then reinstall?

I'm running XP.
Ok, this is going to sound stupid, but I don't know how to uninstall. It doesn't show up in the add/delete programs, and when I try and manually delete the folders it says it's being 'used by another program' even though I've shut down nearly everything. Darn the evil empire. |

try this - open up IE. select 'tools'>>'internet options' and choose the "advanced" tab.
there should be a "restore defaults" button. press that and then apply. if that doesn't work, check back and we'll work on plan b.

You can't uninstall and reinstall IE in XP unfortunately.
Edit - try this http://support.microsoft.com/default...en-us%3b293907

Unfortunately, it didn't help. As an aside, I downloaded Opera and it works fine. Mabye I should just switch over. Quote:
Well at least I feel a bit less stupid. I'll check out the help link. Thanks! Last edited by moriarty : 04-09-2003 at 07:03 PM. |
