Thread to discuss converting MP leagues to 6.3 **THREAD CLOSED. REFER TO 6.3 FAQ**
Can we start a discussion about when to switch over? Is there a better time than now? What can this do to a league? What is this new file structure and what does that mean for GMs? The Commissioner? What are some things to look out for?
What does this do to leagues on Ben's 'stuff' and the dbupdater, etc?

Oh...and I haven't seen anything official, but...
1. Jim always gives the standard response when asked about upgrading--that it's best to do it right before starting a new season. 2. Many (most???) leagues ignore that, and none that I know of have experienced any unexpected issues from upgrading whenever. (WOOF upgraded at the end of the preseason to 6.2 and had no problems, for example.) Given how the patch changes game planning, I certainly wouldn't do it during the regular season. Also, if you have a team with a *lot* of players getting the veteran minimum, they will lose a few million in cap space due to it dropping. (CHA in FOFL would lose 2.7M in cap space to the veteran minimum being lowered, for example.) Make allowances for that if you're in a league that's a stickler for a team being over the cap. They shouldn't be punished if the patch pushes 'em over imho.

Someone has already asked about the cap comments I made, so let me elucidate. The veteran minimum has been lowered. What that means in the short term is this:
In FOFL on 6.2, I've got S Moe Jordan signed for a $1.06M salary and $60K bonus this season. $1.06M is the veteran minimum for his age, so he only costs me $710K ($650K + the $60K bonus). In 6.3, the minimum for his age is lower. It's $990K. So Jordan is no longer playing for the veteran minimum. He'll cost me the full $1.12M--an extra $410K. It's not a huge thing for one player, but something to be aware of if you have someone with a bunch of guys playing for the veteran minimum and close to the cap.

How can a person handle being in leagues that patch and some that don't?

"The only machine that matters is the commish machine as far as using the update engine and whatnot. However, if you are not on 6.3 and your commish is, contract requests will be different, so you might end up either giving too much money to a player, or offering his "requested" amount and getting it rejected." Best solution to this, if you have two boxes, is to use one on 6.2 and one on 6.3. If not, it's not a *huge* difference between requested contracts and what they'll accept. Just know that you might get a rejection the first time you try to give him what he asks for.

So it's best to install the patch and "remember" which leagues don't use it to adjust gameplanning and contract offers accordingly?
Sounds simple enough ![]() |

Can anyone post an example of how the new bat files are supposed to look? I tried this:
Quote:
And placed it in the directory above the new universe, leagues, etc. folders. It gave me an error opening the .exe |

Got it!
1) created a frfoot2007.lnk direct access in the directory above the new universe folder 2) had to manually move my old universe subfolders for each league to the new universe folder Quote:

I can see why now: there is no "pictures" folder in the new version!

It's actually still looking for pictures in the Program Files\Solecismic Software\Front Office Football\ directory, looks like.

You're right! I got it to work now:
Quote:
You need to use quotation marks to specify the path to the pictures folder. For some reason that won't work to specify the .exe directly, but who cares. Last edited by Firefly : 12-29-2009 at 12:02 PM. |

I have 1 MP league working properly. I tried to open my vNFL House and vNFL Edge leagues and it shows the wrong team name to load up in the game. Not sure what happened. I basically moved everything over from the old location to the new C:\Documents and Settings\ location. Anyone have any ideas?

The FRFoot.fcy and FrFoot.fni files aren't being copied properly. 1. Make sure the "C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Solecismic Software\Front Office Football 2007\universe" isn't marked "Read-Only" 2. In your vnflhist.bat file, change: copy universe\vnflhist\frfoot.fni universe\ copy universe\vnflhist\frfoot.fcy universe\ to copy "C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Solecismic Software\Front Office Football 2007\universe\vnflhist\frfoot.fcy" "C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Solecismic Software\Front Office Football 2007\universe" copy "C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Solecismic Software\Front Office Football 2007\universe\vnflhist\frfoot.fni" "C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Solecismic Software\Front Office Football 2007\universe" 3. If you're still not getting the cities and team names to change, try opening the batch file from your (drive letter)\Program Files\Solecismic Software\Front Office Football 2007 directory instead of the desktop shortcut. 4. If none of that works, head over the the vNFL and PM me the exact location of the directory where your user/app data is being stored and I'll adjust my batch file so it works for you. Cheers, -Bear

Similiar to beargrowlz, here is my batch file.
Quote:
I've put a link to the frfoot2007.exe AND my batch file into the "C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Application Data\Solecismic Software\Front Office Football 2007" directory. Then I just threw my 'IHOF' folder under 'universe' and I was good to go. Rinse and Repeat with SP and other MP leagues. Last edited by Dutch : 12-29-2009 at 03:57 PM. |

6.3 FAQ (installation, changes, MP league upgrade info) - Front Office Football Central
I've added the batch file info and a quick Q&A of all questions to the conversion FAQ. I *think* that covers everything. I'm going to close this thread since it looks like all questions in here have been answered. If there are additional questions, you can certainly post another thread. Just trying to keep things organized/streamlined.
