How do i get linebackers to get a lot of sacks?
If i have a good linebacker who has good pass rush skills. How do i get him to get a high amount of sacks?

Put him outside in a 3-4 and turn him loose.

No need to blitz for the WLB to rush the passer in the 3-4 as he's always going after the QB by default.

In 6.3 the number of sacks is turned WAY down. From the WLB anyway.

Like Johnny said, the WLB will rush automatically. If you're playing him at SLB, I'd blitz between 50-75%. Some people I know send the SLB 100% of the time, but I don't. And he won't get many sacks in a 4-3. Besides, blitzing too much in a 4-3 leaves big holes in your pass defense from what I've experienced. Last edited by Steel : 12-31-2009 at 07:15 PM. |

I'm not seeing this. Away from my 6.3 machine now, but I'll give some additional info later on.

In the 3-4 your WLB basically becomes the RDE and your RDE becomes the RDT. Stats adjust accordingly.

Individual sacks from the WLB may be down simply because 6.3 has implemented endurance checks for the nickel. That may not actually mean sacks were adjusted downward, simply that the starting WLB is not on the field as much as he was. Just speculation, I haven't played with the new patch yet. Cheers, -Bear

That could be it, I haven't seen more than 15 sacks from a WLB, but I haven't taken into account # of plays.

I did get 23.0 from a WLB last night, but I wonder if the decline in long-passing for rexed gameplans is leading to a reduction in total sacks in SP leagues.
