Strained Hamstring= Injured Reserve?
In a league I'm in(BLPF), a player of mine went down due to a strained hamstring in Preseason week 4. It's now Week 10 of the regular season, and he's STILL not ready to play. He's been inactive for every game during the season. He's my #2 TE, but he's still 'better' than the guy I have there.
My issue is, I'm in pretty good shape to make the playoffs, and I'm sure I could use him then. It says he has a high risk of reinjury. Would I be better served just playing the guy and letting him reinjure it, so I can have an accurate timetable for his return? I figure a reinjury this late in the season would cost him the year, and going week to week isn't doing much for me either, so it doesn't really make much a difference right? For the record, the injured TE is 3 EXP 58/61. His replacement is 4 EXP 57/61...so it hasn't been 'urgent' all season. Should I continue to just tough it out, or just play the guy and let him get hurt?

I assume he's listed as Questionable? Because if so, you don't have a choice to put him on the field. Even if he's slotted #1, 100%, he may not play. I'd just tough it out unless there's a useful FA out there.

If you raise "use of injured players" high enough he will play at questionable, as per normal. I have mine set at 99. If I don't want someone to play I simply inactivate him. I find this works very well.
In most circumstances I will let a guy play with a strained hamstring, although there are variables to consider obviously. More often than not he won't suffer a more serious injury. This injury can linger all year, so if he does, he does. Hamstring injuries don't tend to produce rating drops. Its only a mild injury, so an aggravation of that strained hamstring doesn't effect the players injury proneness. Be aware a re-injury basically means nothing happens in real terms. There is an increased risk of a severe pull, which is often around 20 weeks out. |

Understood.
Yes, he is listed as questionable. Thanks for the responses, I'll just let the fella play

I won a championship with a QB and this injury. He was injured the entire season.
