What in the world is going on with my defense?
I've been playing FOF for quite a few years... and this year in my MP league, my defense has really stood out.
It's not that they've been good... it's the fact that they've been 85 Bears good. I don't have a good roster... and I confess I'm not a great gameplanner... so what gives? Take a look.

I'm still curious to see what the end of the season looks like.
Does also point to an interesting question. How do you judge how good your team is early in the year. If the trade deadline is week 5,then you might have to make a decision on where your team is going based on a small sample size. That's one reason why I'm curious on how this season turns out. Read a Bill James book on baseball years ago. He was looking at this from the baseball perspective. I think it was after a year where the Tigers started 35-5. He was asking the question of at what point to you know you aren't seeing just an ordinary team on a hot streak? I don't remember the details, but I think his analysis came down to saying a team that normally played .450 ball would never go 35-5 at any point in the season. So, at what point do you think you are seeing something that a just ordinary team wouldn't do? And do you see it by week 5 so you keep that veteran that you could otherwise trade for a draft pick ... but if this happens to be the year to make that playoff run? If your team started this hot, are you still thinking about trading that vet anyways? Or are you maybe starting to think playoff run? Or, here's another take on this question? With the latest changes that make bars more important, could a team with good bars in the right places at the right positions, and probably a smart game plan that uses those strengths, could that team play a lot better as a unit that the scouts 'current' numbers might indicate? Or, are some of these players 'creeper' type players who might be playing better than their scout's 'current' rating? Maybe this is a really good team. Do you disbelieve what you see on the field? To me, trying to figure this stuff out, especially in the first few weeks before the trade deadline, and especially at positions where you aren't real sure you can trust your scout, that's the fun of this game. And besides, everyone was jumping on this guy. ![]() |
