NFL Week 2 Discussion Thread
I know it's only Thursday, but I was getting bored with the endless Randy Moss/Eli Manning debates that seemed to have dominated the last few pages of the Week 1 Thread so...
Here's to Week 2. Here are links to the NFL TV Maps for Week 2: (UPDATED X2 !) 2010 week 2 - Everything you need to know about sports on television - the506.com The Manning Bowl is the Sunday night game (Eli!) and Monday night is, the surprisingly woeful looking in week 1, 49ers vs. the Super Bowl Champs. As for Lions... Ever since the last two minutes of the first half of the Bears game, I believe the special Nightmare that will be this season has begun. Forte scores a TD on a 80 yard screen pass, Stafford gets his throwing shoulder dislocated and it all culminates in the Lions losing thanks to one of the worst calls in NFL history. So, now comes Week 2: The Nightamre Continues. You just know Michael Vick is going to tear up the Lions this week. It's going to be awful. People will be talking about how he overcame such adversity and is finally "back", blah, blah, blah. So, the first two weeks of the season will involve the Lions getting completely screwed out of their first road win in 21 games and, thus, a loss to Rod Marinelli and Mike Martz and then they will be the team for which Michael Vick, torturer and killer of dogs, gets resurrected as a hero who has overcome great adversity. This will all dovetail nicely into Week 3's loss to Brett Favre - Favre's magic is back! - and then the Lions' 451st straight loss in Wisconsin to the Packers. They will be 0-4. Season over. My only hope is that at some point during the Lions-Eagles game either Vanden Bosch or Suh level Vick and while he's on the turf, whoever sacked him gets down on all fours and pretends to urinate on him like a dog. After that... I got nothin'.

I hope Suh is a huge dog-lover and fucking kills Michael Vick on the field. I'm talking like...rips off his head and shits into his beheaded corpse.

Lots of fairly good match ups this week. Also a ton of home teams who were expected to be good and lost road games in week one:
Falcons (hosting the Cardinals) Bengals (hosting the Ravens) Cowboys (hosting the Bears) Vikings (hosting the Dolphins) Chargers (hosting the Jags) Colts (hosting the Giants) Niners (hosting the Saints) The two games I'm most looking forward to are the Pats/Jets and Steelers/Titans games. Both have a chance to be very good games. |

I'm very impressed with how Schwartz handled and continues to handle the Calvin Johnson no-catch. I really hope that the Lions brass keeps him around for the long haul and he'll turn that team around eventually.

The Steelers-Titans game could be very competitive with the Steelers looking like they will be without Hampton at NT, Stark at LT and maybe Hines at WR due to injuires.

With how those two teams looked in week one, wouldn't those injuries point to it being less competitive rather than more competitive?

I think that the Lions might be my second favorite team right now. You guys had all the makings of a "Where the hell did these guys come from?" season this year. It was your year. Then that fucking shoulder injury. (I think had Stafford played, the CJ touchdown catch issue would not have been an issue because you would have been ahead at the end). It's not fair, and I can't help but root for some karmic justice to come your way. |

Does anyone know why a small patch of South Carolina get the Miami-Minn game, while the rest of the surrounding states gets Pitt-Tenn.

I assumed of course I would get the Pats vs Jets game, but I was hoping for something at least half interesting otherwise. Stuck with Miami vs Minn and Chicago vs Dallas though. Yuck.

I find this impossible to believe. He had one good year and is hurt this year. More likely the programming director is just going with the CBS national game over the steelers titans.

The Steelers are 15-1 and haven't allowed a single 100 yard rusher with Hoke replacing Hampton as the starting NT. Hoke could have left and been a starter on several teams, but stays because he says he loves the organization and Dick LeBeau. He's no Hampton, but he's very good at his job all the same. Starks has a shot of playing, it'll be game time. Even if he doesn't, I liked what Scott did on Sunday (except for the first snap where he got bullrushed). Still, if Starks can't go, it's a concern. I don't know why they don't work Tony Hills over there since he's just an LT (and according to coaches has looked good) and Scott can flex along a couple of positions, but hey, what do I know? Ward isn't hurt. I haven't seen anything about him being on the injury list. I know he didn't practice yesterday, but the Steelers always give a few vets Wednesday off from practice. I think it will be a great game. Fisher always game plans the Steelers very well and Pittsburgh always has trouble in Tenn. Slug fest all the way. At the end of the day, I don't like either QB. I think Young can be had and Dixon is a third stringer starting his third game. Advantage Titans.

If it makes you feel any better, I think the Bears train wreck season begins in earnest in week 2 and continues on from there. It should have begun in week 1... We're going to get exposed against the Cowboys, and I'm predicting a drubbing. |

Yeah, I did not see Hines was hurt I saw he did not practice and thought he was injured but now from your post i realize they just rest some vets. This will be a slugfest but actually htink or oline and dline will be the differnce. Young I also expect to have a good game or CJ. I think it will be hard to stop both. |

It's an oasis of good fortune surrounded by people stuck watching Steelers-Titans. Another week watching a stream unless I feel like going to a bar. I'm interested to see how Miami's defense will do against a legitimate NFL offense. I know Buffalo is bad but I was still impressed with the way the defense was hitting guys and pressuring the QB. I think the offense will be a little better this week and that it should be a close game with Miami having a decent chance to pull off the upset. |

So the SC homers who stood by him when he had less than 50 catches in his first two seasons are still Vikings fans even when he isn't playing? I mean you could say they like giant cock and are fans of Schiancoe. I would buy that. Sidney Rice, no way. |

Mark Sanchez does his part to help the Pats this weekend, guaranteeing victory.
Nothing would amuse me more than the Jets going 6-10 and yet continuing to talk trash all season long. Very unlikely to happen, but the Jets' season will come down to overcoming Sanchez's crapiness. Which their defense might be able to do. Last edited by molson : 09-16-2010 at 06:12 PM. |

Been a long time since I've been this hyped about a Pats game that didn't involve the Colts. Can't wait.

Looking forward to going to the Colts/Giants game tonight. Should be a good game. Everyone was all about Foster last week, but the Colts played horribly (un-Colt like penalties, dropped passes, defense an amazing no show in the 2nd half) and I'm expecting a lot better tonight.
Forget I said that if Bradshaw/Jacobs combine for 200 yards. But I don't see it. The Colts are basically the same team as 2009, especially now that Sanders is out..again. I'm also with AB that I'm kind of a closet Lions fan as well. I like what they did in the draft, and I think they'll be an interesting team to watch. It's just a shame about Stafford. That poor franchise can't catch a break. |

OMG but how can Sanchez be crappy? He totally "led" the Jets to the conference championship. Who cares that they had the #1 defense and #1 rushing offense? Wins and losses on a football field are solely due to the QB.
