TCY House Rules

Got the itch to play some TCY - always had a hard time getting into BBCF. TCY just feels more familiar. Anyways, I'm looking for ideas on possible house rules. I imagine something academic-related will be necessary. Like no one with an SAT score higher than X. Otherwise, I was thinking of taking a school in Texas and just recruiting inside the state, though I'm thinking that might be too restrictful if certain positions are dry in a year. What did/do you guys use?

Do you find yourself dominating without house rules? I'm asking as someone who is thinking about taking a break from BBCF and taking up TCY. I thought I read a poster on here say that TCY was the toughest text-sim he/she had ever played.

As for TCY, I haven't played in a while, but I recall doing something related to the color codes. Maybe it was "no recruiting guys coded black," but I'm not sure. And yes, no SAT>x is a good way to go. I'm not sure about single-state recruiting. My experience with that sort of thing in FOF (single-conference drafting) is that it creates something of a false challenge and when I do well I end up feeling more lucky than good.

The only house rule I use in TCY is no blitzing recruits.

Otherwise it's pretty challenging as is, imo. Eventually I get a powerhouse team but it's still difficult to win championships year in and year out unlike other sims.

The last time I sat down to play (taking a small school) I decided that a "no phone calls" rule worked pretty well to temper recruit-blitzing and the sometimes-too-cheap adds from faraway lands.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I'm actually going to give BBCF another look first if I can get myself away from my latest FM career.

That's probably why Cortes rolled with it.

I like this idea if only because I hate being berated with a huge text box for every single player I contact. So you just did visits? BBCF wins in this category, I think.

Also, how much of an advantage comes with bribing a player? Do AI controlled teams use bribes?
