Offseason News
Offseason News
Some major offseason news for the 2014 season. Brian Butts, the 2010 #1 running back recruit in the nation, has declared for the NFL Draft. Normally, a former #1 recruit declaring for the draft wouldn't be a huge surprise, but, in this case, Butts has never carried the ball once in college. In Brian's first season UCLA redshirted him. In his second season, he played special teams all season but never was able to carry the ball behind a highly talented Bruin backfield. Then this past season, Butts was ruled academically ineligible for the 2013 season. Brian apparently decided enough was enough and put his name in for the 2014 NFL Draft. Butts is a highly talented back, and after the combines and his pro day, he may be a top prospect. Last edited by cmp : 01-19-2011 at 09:18 PM. |

2014 NFL Draft
![]() Butts sure must have impressed in his combine and pro day. The Jaguars, despite never seeing Butts carry the ball in college, decided to make him the #1 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. We'll see if his NFL career is much batter than his college one. |

2014 - College Preseason
![]() Clyde Harp - cmp - Michigan State - Senior Harp is one of the nation's top linebackers and should be a force for the Spartans in his senior year. Rob Nielsen - Coffee Warlord - UCLA - (RS) Junior What can the Heisman winner do for an encore? Nielsen hopes it is leading UCLA to a title. Izulde Jestor - Izulde - Wisconsin - Senior Finally Izulde gets his chance. Wisconsin has named him the starter in his senior season. Will Brown - vex - Tennessee - Senior Brown has been stuck behind a terrific back for three seasons and finally gets his chance to be the starter. Chas Swaggs - Swaggs - Pitt - (RS) Junior Swaggs should be a shutdown corner for the Panthers this season. Moe Farley - kobe360x - Texas - (RS) Junior Farley regressed a bit last year but his extremely talented, maybe more than any other quarterback in all of college. Jace Hunter - Travis - Notre Dame - Senior Jace will be a starter for his 4th and final season. We'll see if Notre Dame opens up the playbook a bit for him. David Gonzalez - kingfc22 - UCLA - (RS) Junior Gonzalez should get a chance to shine this season as the Bruins #2 receiver. Dean Hoo - law90026 -Florida State - (RS) Junior Hoo had a tough season last year but is one of the best kickers in college. Deion Prescott - MrBug708 - Notre Dame - (RS) Sophomore Prescott will backup Jace Hunter again this year. But next the Irish will be his team. Craig Ingram - DanGarion - Stanford - (RS) Sophomore Ingram had a very successful freshmen season. Now they hope to win the Pac-10. Andrew Foley - PackerFanatic - Texas A&M - (RS) Sophomore When Foley got playing time he was terrific. As the Aggies 2nd receiver this year he should get a lot of targets. Dave Russ - Tasan - Texas A&M - (RS) Sophomore Wow, Russ is an absolute beast. He will be extremely tough to defend. Max Power - johnnyshaka - Florida State - Junior Power is still stuck as the Seminoles 2nd tight end. Nick Thomas - MacroGuru - Arizona State - Junior Thomas is the star of the defense. And because the front seven can't seem to stop anyone it's all up to him. Wahoo McDaniel - wahoomac - Miami (FL) - (RS) Sophomore The Hurricanes have given the starting job to McDaniel and he will look to be a star. Ches O'Peake - chesopeake - Maryland - (RS) Sophomore O'Peake will be the Terrapins 2nd ILB this season. He should be able to find some playing time. Mike Ritschel - General Mike - Notre Dame - (RS) Sophomore Ritschel moves from Notre Dame's 4th corner to a starter. He should be strong this season. Barry White - Jon - Michigan - (RS) Sophomore White will be the starter once again. His ratings haven't increased much however. Dan Ertmann - illinifan999 - Southern Miss - Sophomore Ertmann will be Southern Mississippi's backup. John Kastos - kastos - Wisconsin - Sophomore Kastos will be the Badgers 4th tight end. Deacon Palmer - ntndeacon - Alabama - (RS) Freshmen Palmer should be a starter on the line for the two-time defending NCAA champions. Maury Ott - cshex - Tulane - Sophomore A year after removing his redshirt midseason, Tulane has decided to redshirt Ott this year, his sophomore year. It's strange considering he was unstoppable when he played and is probably their most talented lineman. Darryl Tovar - wolverine29 - Ohio State - (RS) Freshmen Tovar will be the Buckeyes third OLB. Tyrone Hughes - ReDHawk00 - Iowa - (RS) Freshmen Hughes will be the Hawkeyes 2nd safety so he should see a lot of playing time. Kuji Chagulia - bbgunn - Temple - (RS) Freshmen Kuji will be Temple's 4th safety. Al Mighty - thealmighty - Texas A&M - (RS) Freshmen Al is the Aggies 2nd corner so he will get a lot playing time. Mike Schaplowsky - collegesportsfanms - Iowa - (RS) Freshmen Iowa has named Mike their starter. Nick Phillips - msubball - Florida - (RS) Freshmen Nick will be the Gators starting running back. Larry McGillicuddy - larrymcg421 - Michigan - FreshmenMichigan has named Larry the starting running back. All other freshmen will redshirt. |

I have my calendar circled around our game vs. UW. Time for your Golden Arm to launch balls that only my lightning speed can catch. I want 10+ TD's this season, plus a Pac-10 Title and National title.

Mike Schaplowsky went 20-45 for 212 yards, 1 touchdown and 3 picks in his first start. Another freshmen got off to a good start, Nick Phillips carried the ball 18 times for 136 yards and a touchdown. Wow, #1 overall pick and he never touched the ball in college. Nice.
Excited to finally be a starter, hopefully I can do as well as I did in the latter half the season last year. With Al Mighty coming in this year, we might have a shot to break into the big time finally. |

Only 10+ TD's. That time on the bench has lowered your expectations. You're catching no less than 20 of my estimated 50 touchdown bombs this year. 8 of which will come vs UW. We will not lose to them again. |

The formula is simple for Temple: if the coaches put me in long enough to get a tackle, we win. If they don't, we don't.
