Mississippi River Trip Recommendations

Wife and i are going to a wedding in Clarksdale Mississippi in April. We are flying into Memphis and have few days to kill. We would like to do something along the river, particularly south of Memphis. Any recommendations for sights, food and lodging? (not tunica). thanks.

Doe's Steakhouse in Greenville, MS. Make sure you get some tamales.

You could do the Tunica Riverpark Museum.

April 15 - 16 - 22nd Annual Riverfest, Vicksburg - Riverfest, a spring festival held in Historic Downtown Vicksburg with street dancing Friday and Saturday night bands playing classic rock, country-western, rhythm and blues and contemporary soul. A fun time for the whole family. (601)529-8077 (8338)

April 14 - 17 - Juke Joint Festival, Clarksdale - Half Blues festival, half small town fair and ALL about the Mississippi Delta. Daytime outdoor activities and nightime music in Juke Joints and clubs and related events including 5k run. (662)624-5992 (8339)

Vicksburg is about 2 hours south of Clarksdale.

There's just not much to do in the Delta.

I've heard good things about Madidi, Morgan Freeman's restaurant in Clarksdale.

Vicksburg is great if you're a Civil War buff.

This is the area that I went to college in. There is not much to do other than Tunica. There is really good BBQ place in Cleveland called Airport Grocery. Doe's, as mentioned, is good as well. You will not have a shortage of good restaurants in the area.
