Importing from TCY

OK the only experience I have with importing draft files is with Madden and NCAA. I am really enjoying FOF and was considering picking up TCY also but was wondering how the import works. In Madden you would lose players entirely and players who were great would not be worth a 7th round pick. So how is this with FOF and TCY?

Are the class sizes accurate?

I assume there is some randomness but are the players fairly accurate?

Thanks for any info

The main thing to know here is that the import is based heavily on their TCY *rating*, not their TCY performance. It makes sense: great talent, (well, along with drive and determination,) not great college stats, makes great NFL players. However, because the TCY AI isn't perfect, this can play out in some odd-looking ways. For example...
  • A talent-packed college team in TCY has an 85/85 senior starting QB, a 53/76 Junior, and they sign a 35/98 guy. Mr. 35/98 plays sparingly as a Freshman because of Mr. 85/85. As a 45/98 sophomore, he's the #2 behind Mr. 65/76 Senior. But because he has monster-stud talent, he declares for the draft after his Sophomore year. He has no appreciable college stats and no starts, but because he's a true 98 in talent, he's the best prospect in the draft.
  • A monster prospect is also dumb as a rock. He doesn't play much as a freshman for the same reasons as the above scenario. He's academically ineligible to play as a Soph, and he gets pissed and leaves. Once again, even though he was a max of say 39/95, he's a true 95. He has virtually no stats in college, but he's also a Top 10 pick in the draft.
A fair amount of work went into improving the balancing of imported classes in the 6.3 patch, and it definitely shows, though. If you can handle that time to time there are players who played very little in college who end up being Top 5 draft picks, then it can be a fun way to play.

Is the BPR bar fixed for TE's?
We used to have a side TCY game and import all the draft classes in the IFL. I believe we had to go through and update the BPR bars for TE's when were doing this

Yes, that was fixed in 6.3. I have a mature TCY-imported league. There are still too many decent QBs (tons of 53/53 types), but most other positions are much better.

Awesome thanks. That sounds like it can be a little weird, but sounds better than talented college players disappearing. I will get into TCY also. Appreciate it

Yeah, they don't disappear. As long as your focus is college talent, and not college performance, you probably won't mind it too much.
