Who says school field trips can't be fun?

Pa. 8th Graders' Field Trip Includes Hooters Lunch

Pa. 8th Graders' Field Trip Includes Hooters Lunch

BERWICK, Pa. -- For one group of central Pennsylvania eighth-graders, a recent field trip to Baltimore included lunch at Hooters – a restaurant better known for its busty waitresses than its food.

The Berwick Middle School students were visiting the National Aquarium last week. Chaperones took them to various restaurants for lunch because the group of 100 was too large for a single place.

The Bloomsburg Press Enterprise reports Tuesday that one group of 15 to 20 students ended up at Hooters.

Superintendent Wayne Brookhart says that while he wishes the group's coed chaperones had chosen another restaurant, he has not received any complaints from parents.

Hooters spokesman Mike McNeil says the restaurant chain often hosts groups, including sports teams and church organizations with teens and younger children.

Were the chaperones excited to see chicks in the least flattering shorts EVER?

Thank you.

I don't know what it is with Hooters, is it just because of the name and... legacy or something? If I want to see hot waitresses, it's probably the fourth place to go to here. And this is frickin' Winnipeg. I'd imagine bigger cities have way better options than those granny panty shorts.

That's funny. Last year I was a chaperone on my son's 8th grade class trip to Baltimore. Before we left, the teacher in charge met with all the chaperones to go over the rules. She said after we finished at the aquarium, we had about 2 hours of free time, and each chaperone could take their group (about 12 kids) anywhere the kids wanted to go for lunch. She cautioned us however, not to take the kids to Hooters, as one of the chaperones had done that the previous year, and some of the parents complained.

So after we left the aquarium, I asked all the kids in my group where they wanted to go for lunch. Guess where they all wanted to go? Yep... Hooters. The funny thing was the girls in the group were the most insistant about going there. One of them actually said, "can we go to a strip club instead?" These were 8th graders!!!

Anyway, at that point in the day I could have really used a beer, and Hooters was tempting, but in the end we ended up at the mall food court instead, and then the ESPN Zone.

I think my favorite part of the story is:

"Hooters spokesman Mike McNeil says the restaurant chain often hosts groups, including sports teams and church organizations with teens and younger children."

The Hooters up here (idk if it was nationally or not) was running a bunch of ads around Mother's Day. Their promo was essentially "Bring your mom in for Mother's Day and she gets a free dozen wings."

I'm driving around in my car hearing these ads and I'm thinking to myself "that's the perfect punchline to a 'You might be a redneck if' joke."
