Happy Father's Day!

To all the Dad's out there, we have been a growing group these past 10 years and more!

Being a Dad is just about the best thing ever. I realize it more each year as they get older and older. My youngest is now 7 and only has 10 years until he is possibly out the door. These days go by so fast at this age. They get older and smarter and soon they don't want to play with you and won't hold you or kiss you. I love coming home to kids who scream "DAD!" And wait with anticipation at Christmas like I used to when I was younger.

Traveling and leaving them is hard, but my beautiful wife makes it work. Without her support and understanding my role as Dad might be totally different. She does "Mom" so well it makes it easy to be the best Dad I can.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Fathers Day everyone. On my 12th one and hearing my kids say Happy Fathers Day moves me just as much as it did when people told me then. Can't think of anything that makes me happier or more proud than my girls.

Fourth one for me. Nothing better than hanging out with my girls and watching the U.S. Open.

I am following my daughter's unspoken lead. She doesn't feel any need to fall in lockstep with any hallmark holidays, especially those sponsored by Home Depot. Sure, I could use a gallon of wood glue (what man couldn't?) But when it comes down to it my daughter is secure in herself enough to not feel the need to acknowledge any trivial celebration of her father, whether it be for a Sunday in June, my birthday, Christmas, Arbor Day... or any day for that matter. I am proud of her! Independence is a beautiful thing!

Hmm, I don't know M GO BLUE, I'm aware of that anti-establishment routine, I hear it's very popular these days.

However, having said that...I secured a new office chair, some Gladiator storage rails/shelves for the garage, Battle: Los Angeles on BluRay, a bacon/sausage/egg/muffin breakfast, and was told to chill while my 2 teen-aged boys knocked out the mowing and edging of our corner lot home.

I'll take full advantage of Father's Day, whether it's sponsored by Home Depot or not, because this kind of shit doesn't happen the rest of the year.

I was just thinking how great doing some sort of "Unappreciated Fathers Day" BBQ for dad's whose kids are assholes & for people whose dads are assholes.

I'm thinking a lot of guys would run into their kids there...

Our church showed a video of kids telling something about their Dads. My youngest was on it. She said the best thing about her Dad is that I like her hugs. She is a bear hug type hugger. Her sister and Mom get squeezed hard and dont like them too much.

Made my day.

I don't believe it... I actually got an email from my daughter an hour before midnight with the words "Happy Father's Day" in it!

It only took 18 years... LOL
