Texans/Steelers 2002--Crazy Box Score

I was on another message board and someone linked to this box score. One of the more amazing ones I have ever seen. I have no recollection of this game when it happened.

Anyone remember this?

Houston Texans at Pittsburgh Steelers - December 8th, 2002 - Pro-Football-Reference.com

I don't remember it, but NFL.com confirms it: NFL Game Center: Houston Texans at Pittsburgh Steelers - 2002 Week 14

Yes. I remember that. Before I even scrolled down, I thought "was that Jim Miller or Tommy Maddox era Steelers?"

Being a Pittsburgher, without even opening the link I know what it is. Maddox, 2 INTs, both returned for TDs. Texans had something like 100 yards of total offense.

Exactly. I remember watching this game. So frustrating.

Good ol' Cowher.

Never thought to invest in a first day QB until Big Ben.

I remembered it before looking at the box score. The Steelers have had a few of these types of games over the years.

Anyone remember this one?

Now we know where Daivd got his acumen for accuracy in stats.

How about the 34 all tie with the Falcons in 2002. Followed by a 41-38 game in 2006. Some crazy stuff.

I remember the tie because Plaxico caught a last-second bomb in OT at the 1-yard line. Crazy.

I don't remember this game at all, and I'm not sure why I would.

I think the most amazing thing about that game (and something I didn't remember) is that only one guy for the Texans caught a pass. Maybe that was more common way back when, but I doubt we'll ever see that happen again.

It was a lot more common when David Carr was a starting QB in the NFL

I was at that game, and all I could do is sit there in amazement during the 4th quarter. Probably the strangest game I've ever been at, just because of the amazing defensive performance by the Steelers, but still being down by 18 points.

I was more amazed by the 52-31 box score between the Panthers & Bengals. Led by Rodney Peete and Jon Kitna, respectively.
